Lucca womansplaining is logically impossible for several reasons. Woman are generally nowhere near arrogant enough to think they automatically know more than a man just because he’s a man so do not womansplain OR (ime) it’s not very difficult to know more than many men and so it’s not womansplaining if you do actually explain something that you do know more anout?. Bit convoluted but you get my drift?
To be fair if there is mansplaining...shouldn’t there be womansplaining..? Devils advocate here
Completely agree Lucca. I thought that the purpose of a forum was for people to give and explain their views.
As I have stated on many occasions on this forum, if other members do not like my contributions or what any other person posts then the simple solution is not to read it.
No such thing as ‘womansplaining’ ’ imo Grandad. What there is though in general is a great need for men to listen to women far more as then they might understand more.?
Iam64. I'm glad to hear that, because it read like just another of those rude and mean spirited comments made by those who can't counter someone else's opinion. Have a cupcake and sweeten up! ?
Me and I believe Rufus2 both use the term Ladies Too right Grandad! It goes well with "gracious" and is also useful for identifying where not to go for a pee in a shopping centre! Reminds me of that old music hall joke;
"Who was that Lady I saw you with last night?" "That was no Lady, that was my wife"
I find that really interesting WW, I am not sure we pay enough attention to the differences between the sexes, eg the way autism presents differently between girls and boys.
Did anyone listen to R4 yesterday morning where they were talking about the gradual realisation that men’s DNA and genetic makeup is weaker than women's. They went on to describe various evidence.none if them was the fact that more men got and died of C19. It has always been known that the mortality in male babies is higher than females. I think that there are more male children born as a result.
I think we are in danger of putting some people off posting. It is already a minefield of political correctness, then there are the pedants to consider. It seems that everyone is just waiting to be offended by something, and mostly small unimportant things.
I think it’s important that men feel welcome on GN and I would not want to be involved in something which made people feel excluded.
However, I do wonder if some of the subjects discussed are of marginal interest to some men. Presumably they simply avoid those threads. My partner has no interest in joining GN but we often discuss issues raised here.
I posted recently about ‘lovely women’, but that was a reference to the support shown by posters I know to be women.
I personally prefer to be referred to as a woman, but I don’t take exception if others use the term lady. I do use the term ‘guys’ particularly at work, with my mixed sex team.
There are many men on there own out there who very often struggle to maintain themselves. In many instances, they can in their late year's be even more vulnerable and lonely than women.
Therefore it would be nice, I feel, if more encouragement were placed by GNHQ to brining such persons onto the forum where at least some virtual companionship and at times assistance could be found.
However, I often feel that although GN states that the forum is open for use by both genders, in reality "Grans" not "Grandads" is what they want.
That said, it is very encouraging to see so many on this thread wishing to see more men on the forum, and in that alone perhaps GNHQ will take note and perhaps act?
