Charity Recycling Bags

I use them as liners for the pedal bin. Ive not had to actually buy liners for ages.

They say they will be collected on a certain day, but I tried putting them out empty on the doorstep and they did not vanish. I suppose it adds to the labour involved to get out of the car for empty ones as well as filled ones. Sorry, charities, but I do not have saleable items to dispose of every week, and sometimes we get two or three! The cost of bags must add up.

I either use them as bin liners or put them straight in the recycling bin - our system does take plastic bags - some don't.

They fit my recycling bin for plastics just fine. I'm not sure why charities bother with house collection any more. As with most towns, the high street in mine is dominated by charity shops - I never have anything to put out for collection.

I put something in them every time (cant bear clutter) and they are always collected here.

I get far more than I can use as bin liners.Last time I put out a filled bag it was not collected.members of our sustainability gp are thinking of collecting all our surplus bags together in one bag and putting out for collection together with a few clothes.

DD cut some of hers into strips, spirally to prevent ends, and knitted the "plarn", as it is called, into a container to hold some of her wools. One could knit a shopping bag in the same way, with handles.

Actually... I think she might have crocheted it.

We live in a village under NYM and we get no bags, it would be handy as I have to take mine to Charity shops

I'm sure that these kerbside collections will eventually stop - I never see any put out down my road. I have 5 charity shops just a walk away - so plenty of choice of where to take my bits and pieces. Meanwhile I use the bags to line my recycling bin.
PS I think that a lot of these bags are from non charitable companies who sell the stuff on for their own profit.
