For those kindly folk who followed the previous thread regarding the problems with our DIL, reading various posts last week, I was tempted to write that she barely spoke to us over Christmas - she was ill so DS and I cooked the seasonal fare - but lo! and behold, during our Skype session yesterday up she popped again as though nothing was at all wrong [she hasn't spoken to us since 26/12] so thank heavens we did not react to her absence, and have waited patiently.
Although she has a catastrophic relationship with her own mother and by extention with members of the older generation in general, we always try to include her in all our doings [they live in UK, we live in France] so that there is no perceived ill-will. Patience, it seems, is a virtue.

My dad spent 40 years mastering his craft, and last week someone half his age told him how to eat.😠
What words annoy you when used wrong or people don't know the meaning of?
