Was anyone else a member in 1970??
This is me on my way to my friend's 21st!

annodomini Tue 22-Oct-13 16:03:44

A member of what jane?

petallus Tue 22-Oct-13 16:12:02

The knicker brigade obviously. I was but I don't have a photo.

Ana Tue 22-Oct-13 16:21:47

What knickers? confused

Agus Tue 22-Oct-13 16:27:45

I was, but in the sixties. Wore mini's before the invention of tights! Bit dodgy bending down trying not to show stocking tops and suspendersgrin

janeainsworth Tue 22-Oct-13 16:28:17

What petallus said annogrin
I was clearing out some stuff yesterday and found some old negatives.
Funnily enough I met up with the friend whose 21st it was, only last month,(she lives in Australia so we don't see each other very often) and she was saying she regretted not having any photos of her 21st.
So finding the negatives was serendipity really, and MrA has been happily occupied scanning them all into the computer smile

janeainsworth Tue 22-Oct-13 16:29:39

I assure you I had some on Ana!

tanith Tue 22-Oct-13 16:50:42

I don't have any pics either , a shame I'd love to show my granddaughters. I remember my mil telling me it wasn't appropriate to wear mini maternity dresses when I was pregnant with my first.. grin

annodomini Tue 22-Oct-13 17:00:50

I don't think I ever had the legs to wear a skirt that short!

LizG Tue 22-Oct-13 17:53:10

Yes I was and being tall I had long legs too. So wish I still looked like that. When I show the DGK's pictures they won't believe it's me.

Galen Tue 22-Oct-13 18:13:45

You haven't changed a bit!

harrigran Tue 22-Oct-13 19:08:06

Oh yes, I wore the shortest of skirts and like Agus I had a problem with stocking tops. I bought tights as soon as they went on sale I think I paid £2/19/11 for a pair when my wage was £4 a week grin

janeainsworth Tue 22-Oct-13 19:19:29

A lot older and possibly slightly wiser Galen smile

janeainsworth Tue 22-Oct-13 19:31:25

Are you sure it wasn't 3s/11d for tights Harri?
I seem to remember paying £2/19/11 for shoes!
And the rent on my bedsit was £2/10s !

Gagagran Tue 22-Oct-13 19:45:48

I once bought a pair of stockings on Petticoat Lane market - very cheap they were and when I got back home and opened them I found out why. They were just the stocking tops - no legs! Taught me a lesson about cheap offers on markets.

NannaAnna Tue 22-Oct-13 23:58:48

Did anyone else overcome the problem of stockings and minis by sewing stockings to knickers??
More economical than tights in a way, because if one laddered you could just unstitch it and sew on another, rather than chucking out the whole pair!!
I remember doing this at the time that me and my best friend used to buy dye-dyed grandad vests and wear them as very very short dresses grin

When I saw the heading of the thread I assumed it was going to be about knicker drawers, following on from a conversation at the Exeter meet up recently. Can't remember how we came to be discussing it, but here is proof of my OCD when it comes to tidy underwear. blush

harrigran Wed 23-Oct-13 00:48:55

They were very expensive tights Jane and it was 1965. I never had a pair of tights as cheap as 3/11. I think my black work stockings were 6/6.

NannaAnna Wed 23-Oct-13 00:52:39

Good lord grannyactivist!
I'm afraid that photo propelled me to go and take a picture of mine, which is the polar opposite of yours! thlgrin

Lona Wed 23-Oct-13 07:17:05

I think I'm not OCD I'm OTT! I've got three drawers full, one black sets, one paler/coloured sets, and one just of thongs/pants!
blush

janeainsworth Wed 23-Oct-13 07:25:56

Gayour knickers are even graded according to colour! Respect!
NannaAnna that reminds me of DD's knicker arrangements smile

NanaAnna i think we are on the same wave length!
I used to wear what were euphemistically called 'hipsters' when I was 21; if I wore them now they would fall off. I now wear 'waisters' or Bridget Jonesers so no danger of them sliding southwards!

sunseeker Wed 23-Oct-13 09:39:27

I can remember wearing dresses I couldn't take a deep breath in! this was after I started wearing tights!

Anniebach Wed 23-Oct-13 09:58:46

NannaAnna, I thought your photograph was of my knicker drawer

annodomini Wed 23-Oct-13 12:31:08

Nice colours, NanaAnna. Mine share a drawer with vests (on the right) and bras (in the middle), but that's as far as organisation goes!
