Plain or plane.

I started looking at this with an earlier post.

Is it the Cheshire "plain" as say a boring feature.

Or should it be Cheshire "Plane" as a flat geographical feature.
Its bugging me now. Cheshire East council calls it Cheshire plain on there notices. .

Plain is right; if it was a plane it would be taking off from Manchester Airport.

It’s always been the Cheshire Plain and it’s nothing to do with being boring.
It’s to do with being flat, like the Great Plains of the USA.
If you go up to the top of Alderley Edge you can see the whole of the Cheshire Plain stretching out before you, all the way to the Mersey Estuary.
Planes are not flat geographical features.
They are tools for making things flat.
And aircraft, of course grin
