Why do so many people confuse advise and advice?
'Advise' is a verb and rhymes with 'eyes'.
'Advice' is a noun and rhymes with 'ice'.

And, while I am on the subject:
'Practise' is a verb;
'Practice' is a noun. Unfortunately the pronunciation is the same.

Also 'Councillor' and 'Counsellor' . Sound much the same but such different jobs.

Annodomini - the Americans have "practice" and "practise" round the other way, which leads to even more confusion!

I remember that practice is a noun because you can say 'the ice' but not "the ise".
