180 visas were issued to dependants of the (many thousands of) Cameroonians *already here.

Thanks MaizieD. It’s always good to have a few facts, although it spoils the “story” for those with an agenda.

Overall immigration is actually down, and far fewer care workers are getting visas. The NHS and the Care System, depend on migrant workers to keep functioning.

I can’t imagine many Care Workers “laughing all the way to the bank”. It’s a hard job and poorly paid, as everyone knows.

The figures have been misused misinterpreted. The article writer has acknowledged this and said they will correct them.

Dependants can join Health and Care workers who arrived in earlier years, so it is not correct to conclude that each of the 12 workers brought 15 family members. I'd never heard of the EasternEye newspaper in the original link- had to look it up. Apparently it's Asian owned and better known for publishing the annual Asian Rich List and Asian Business Awards annually.

It’s good that the bringing many family dependents here has now stopped but think how many are actually here over even just the last few years.
It should only ever have been open to a man with a wife and two children or no wife/children.
It’s the same in a different way of the thousands of Afghans here who were claimed to be huge extended family members.
The people who run this country are a joke.

Those very few whose raison d’etre is steeped in the hatred of certain groups, people, organisations. They don’t apologise or even acknowledge that they might ever be wrong.

In this example, any excuse to both get at the government AND migrants is just too good a chance to miss. Never mind about actual facts.

The scheme was set up in good faith, ironically by the Tories, it no longer exists. It’s a non-story, like many others, designed to be divisive.

At this point, I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling thoroughly sick of it all.

Migrants are not the case of all our woes, anymore than people on benefits are.

Well said. If people are looking for people to blame, try looking at sleazy multi-millionaires like Farage and Tice.

Its an absolute disgrace our own young families cannot get even a rented home but we have enough money for them.. Soon people will turn. Who makes these daft decisions, even if its law change it.
