Giorgia Meloni Gives Trump Both Barrels!

Mr Trump can't help himself, can he?

His latest clumsy, un-diplomatic act is to claim the Italian Prime Minister "begged" to be photographed with him at the recent G7 junket, and he "felt sorry for her".

She didn't waste any time blasting back at him with "neither I nor Italy beg!" in an absolute tirade of anger.

Please take note Sir Keir - that's being a strong PM.

Oldnproud Fri 19-Jun-26 19:00:14

Good for her.
He appears to be too thick to realise what a nasty, ignorant and delusional human being he is seen as by most of the world's population.

Maremia Fri 19-Jun-26 19:15:16

Silly old fool

Maremia Fri 19-Jun-26 19:16:35

Starmer refusing to go into Trump's illegal war was also being a strong PM.

Casdon Fri 19-Jun-26 19:24:33

She takes no prisoners, and in this instance I don’t blame her, he’s a conceited old fool.

I agree completely, Starmer was browbeaten and bullied by Trump as well as called names for not kowtowing.
It needs strength to do this.
And Meloni was right when she said Trump reserves such ridicule for allies only whilst saying nothing about the likes of Putin.

MollyNew Fri 19-Jun-26 21:21:28

Orange Manbaby strikes again. He really is an obnoxious old twit.

Rosie51 Fri 19-Jun-26 22:43:52

Who to believe? Hmmm Trump or virtually anyone else on the planet? He really is totally delusional if he thinks anyone actually believes his pronouncements. Surely not even his closest allies believe most of what emerges from his mouth. He's the classic 'if he told me it's Friday I'd check the calendar'!

I agree Starmer showed strength not being pulled into Trump's war while still trying to keep diplomatic relations going.

Yes it was. Let's reserve the criticism of him for when it's due. He may not garner much respect domestically, but on the world-stage, I believe he does.

As for the Italian PM 'begging him...' Please... Is he so deluded that he really thinks the world will believe that?

I don't know about anyone else, but I am really tired of seeing his face on media outlets - that surly pursed mouth and narrow calculating look in his eyes, grating voice... and the way he's constantly patting himself on the back. Ugh. I'll be so relieved when his reign comes to an end, which it will, eventually. I don't wish a violent end - I'm a bit of a pacifist - I just want him to sink quietly into an oblivion.

In protest of what he described as "serious and offensive words" that "offend all of Italy," Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani abruptly cancelled his scheduled diplomatic trip to the United States!

Here's an article about it in the Washington Post.
I haven't seen her video.

...even the right wing are under fire from this odious man if they don't back him 100%.

AGAA4 Sat 20-Jun-26 08:01:59

Georgia Meloni was more likely to be begging not to have a photo with Trump..
I agree that Starmer showed great strength in defying Trump over the Iran war.

Well good for him - I think it is an insult to the Italian nation.

It's fairly obvious that Trump respects no-one - no individual or demographic - or country. Also, he has no respect for the Constitution, democracy, human rights, institutions etc.

When I see video recordings of him sitting at his desk in the Oval Office during morning briefings and prayer sessions with his Evangelical leaders, admin staff, and the Executive leadership fawning over him as if he is some Deity - talking to him in reverential tones, it makes me recoil in disbelief and despair.

It's alleged that many Americans believe he was chosen by God to rule - I think it's equally likely he believes this himself. He certainly has a very high opinion of his own character and capabilities and appears to believe that everyone he meets is overwhelmed by his presence.

I find it incredible that no-one has had the integrity to stand up and call him out - diplomacy be dammed, the RotW can unite in condemning his awful behaviour surely? Well, the Italian PM got close to it, as did that Danish MEP, Anders Vistisen when he rejected Trump's demand to take over and control Greenland.

... and I am glad that Starmer stood his ground.

Isn't it ironic that the man who said he would end the war in Ukraine 'within 24-hours' of taking office, who, on the campaign trail, chafed Biden continually for 'starting wars' - ended up starting a major one himself, and then insulted his allies because they wouldn't join in with it!

I can sometimes find a redeeming feature or characteristic in politicians who are a scourge, I always look for them. I can't find one in Trump.

Yet, I don't hate him - I believe he's the product of a dysfunctional family, one where the only merit as a human being is making money and winning at all costs.

MollyNew Sat 20-Jun-26 14:49:28

Dickens didn't Trump say after he was shot in the ear that God had saved him to rule the USA, or words to that effect. If that's what he believes, then there are no depths to which he won't sink. He is a truly awful individual.

I think it was rude of Marco Rubio to blank KS at the G7 meeting.
He shook hands with everyone except KS.
If I had had been KS I wouldn’t have bothered trying to be noticed & brush it off.

AGAA4 Sat 20-Jun-26 14:54:58

Despite what's going on with Starmer he is the far better man than Marco Rubio who is just one of Trump's henchmen.
To not shake hands with a leader of another country is a childish thing to do but then look who his leader is.

Smileless2012 Sat 20-Jun-26 14:57:27

And all it's achieved is bad press for Rubio. I hope if he does shake KS's hand at some point, that KS immediately goes to wash it.

Yep. I felt embarrassed for him.
KS was the better man for sure.

Just when you think Trump can't get any worse he manages to prove, yet again, that he can and he does.

Magenta8 Sat 20-Jun-26 15:34:53

I have just read that Trump is blaming left wing, activist vandals for the mass of algae growing in the blue reflecting pool and turning it green.confused

Luckygirl3 Sat 20-Jun-26 15:52:04

What has Starmer to do with it? - he has not been faced by this comment so it is irrelevant. when he is we can judge him on his response.

Starmer has stood his ground on other matters and done so in a statesmanlike fashion. And he sent the king over to give Trump a bloody nose that he was too thick to notice!

Rubio - the man Trump called "Little Marco". Another of Trump's sycophants.

Wheniwasyourage Sat 20-Jun-26 16:21:54

Good for Ms Meloni! Who would have believed what Trump said about her anyway, but she stood up for herself, and I believe her political opponents have backed her, so good for them too.

I agree that Starmer has done well on the international scene, certainly including resisting Trump's attempts to get us into his stupid war.
