Henry Nowak…….an absolute tragedy.

I couldn't watch it last night. I was so upset i couldn't settle, how have we come to this? Why did no one help that boy. Those officers did they even look at him?
If the theft if those knives were not investigated, why not?
Starmer said nothing wrong but he and successive governments have bought us to this
All my sympathies to the victims family.
This is the start of the beginning of major changes and attitudes.

I don't understand the 'it's Starmer's fault' comments.
From what I see, it's Farage who is attempting to stir up 'rage'.

Sympathy should be with the victim’s family and not the perpetrator. Starmer is a shocker, no idea. He stokes anger without having a clue. Even though I couldn’t stand him, Blair was a much, much better PM who knew how to relate to the populace.

I’m still avoiding the news etc so apologies if I’ve got this wrong but am I right in thinking that Henry’s father specifically requested that this should not be used to stir up racial hatred and yet Farage, who’s been lying low recently was given an emergency news conference on tv this morning. To stir up racial hatred….

Jaxjacky I will choose what to comment on thank you. It is factual from the video cam. I also gave a broader opinion on my views regarding knives. My post wasn't inflammatory or inciting racial tensions, far from it. But yes I as many are mortified by the lack of any concern as to the young lad laying virtually lifeless on the ground. And I don't think anyone should be carrying knives. Your opinion appears to be in defence of the police at the scene mine is questioning it. Of course there will be an inquiry. I only hope many lessons will be learnt from it. We are allowed opinions that's what makes us human.

There is a photo circulating of the murderer, Dikwa at work with colleagues. He is wearing a very large knife in a sheaf clearly visible over his clothes. How can that be considered acceptable? What would happen if anybody else turned up with a large bladed weapon slung over their shoulder?

It is identity politics that have stirred the flames of racial division. Was it wrong to politicise the murder of george floyd but not this death, again I have no idea what people thought would happen.

Plevey your post repeats what has been said numerous times, what we should be focusing on, imo, is what happens next. As stated above and contrary to the wishes of Henry’s family, the racial fires have been stoked.
Our police still have to get on and do their jobs, in Southampton now, at one station, this is proving difficult to say the least.
The IOPC are investigating the involvement of the police at the murder scene, their report will be issued, then we can comment further.
The court case involving the wider Dikwa family was deferred today until next month when the mother is separately due to be sentenced for removing the knife.
Those two statements are fact, not conjecture.

Sikhs are permitted in this country to wear a small ceremonial Kirpan a knife around their neck next to there skin. Their allowed larger sword types in their homes. They are allowed to wear the knife whilst on an aircraft or keep it in their holdall. A larger sword must be kept in the hold. The USA has banned these items and many Scandinavian countries do not allow Sikhs to carry or wear them in Sweden, Finland and Denmark. I can't say that I knew this...it doesn't sit easy with me or the taking of them on aircrafts. The police on the video cam appear to have been negligent. It didn't appear to cross their minds that a young man, who had been accused of racism, was the one laying on the floor saying he couldn't breathe and he had been stabbed. A male officer handcuffed him and said no you haven't. A female officer appeared to listen when Henry Novak said he'd been stabbed and she said , where on your face, the male officer said no he hasn't. She at least said well we still need to look. She looked at Henry's face briefly. Because she didn't get support from the male officer she gave up. He died minutes later. You'd think that surely they would have thought why is this young man laying on the ground, difficulty speaking and breathless, it beggars belief. They asked the Sikh man who was upright and talking if he was hurt and he lied and said yes around my eye. On the video cam there didn't appear to be any injury. The murdered mother apparently took the large knife away before the police arrived. She and her other son appeared in court today I believe. I've never particularly heard that Sikhs are violent but I do question in today's climate of racial tensions and in a country that claims knives should not be carried by anyone, whether Sikhs should be legally allowed to carry these knives. I'd rather they didn't even if they argue they are purely ceremonial.

The whole family are violent. Look at what they’ve been charged with today. Look at the list of weapons. Henry’s tragedy is that he came in their orbit. It could have been anybody. I hope they all get put away for a very long time.
