Appalling news. Really. They sound vile.

Good riddance. Anyone committing a crime while seeking asylum should be deported. They are showing no respect for the country they wish to live in so should go.
And the many Brits who commit violent and sexual crimes? How respectful are they??

barmcake You are spot on. Anyone on here, myself included who call out unrestricted migration and the disproportionate crime migrants are commiting have been called far right racists. The rape of the poor Sikh lady and the woman on Brighton beach are both horrific and both racially motivated but only one crime is being called a race/hate crime.
With all due respect, I’ve not seen anyone, anywhere, on here, or other sites or in “real life” supporting “mass migration”, we have all supported controls for both AS and other immigrants coming in on visas.
I wouldn’t dream of calling someone a racist, unless they stated, as some do, deport all immigrants, reverse their statuses and send them home.

The three men will be deported after sentencing.
Why does it take so long to sentence them? They will not be sentenced until 15th July. Presumably they will be kept in custody until then and hopefully not accidentally allowed to disappear.
Because we have too many people of all nationalities committing all sorts of crimes and we need more courts and more staff! That’s why it takes so long, courts are way way behind, it a nightmare.

Sarnia, When you wrote "huge percentage" what do you mean? A huge percentage of what? It's just been explained why the majority of people arriving on boats are young males. It is impossible for residents in some countries to apply for exit visas to anywhere. I'm not sure that a "huge percentage" of total immigrants consists of young, single males.
Migrant Watch UK show a figure of 86% men in age range 25-39 crossing the Channel. I would say that's fairly hefty.
Sorry, but I wouldn't trust Migration Watch UK.
Even if they are accurate, asylum seekers make up about 5% of the total number of immigrants to the UK. The majority are single males, but not all, so it's safe to assume that fewer than 5% of immigrants are single male asylum seekers.
I think everybody has seen how people get confused about immigrants and asylum seekers. The moment anybody is reported to have committed a crime, there are some people who go off about stopping boats, sending immigrants back home, protecting British women and loads more.
Of course attacks like the one in Brighton are appalling and I'm included in the people who think these men should be deported as soon as possible. I don't know why there's a delay.
I just wish people would remember that the vast majority of asylum seekers, immigrants and men are not abusers.

No capital punishment for any crime. There is always the risk of miscarriage of justice, always. What about Andrew Malkinson and Stefan Kiszko?
The law has changed since Stefan Kiszko's case. Evidence which could have cleared him was not available to the defence at that time and in fact was withheld by the police; four girls admitted to lying 'for a laugh', all of which contributed not just to the wrecking of his life but allowing the rapist and murderer to live a free life for years.
It’s not quite that high Sarnia. The government figures are as follows.
‘Based on data regarding irregular migration to the UK via the English Channel (small boats) from 2018 to early 2026, the demographic profile of people arriving is primarily composed of adult men.
Demographic Breakdown (By Age & Sex)
Adult Men (18-39): This group makes up the clear majority, consistently representing about 70% to 75% of all arrivals.
Adult Men (40+): Roughly 5% to 9% of arrivals are men aged 40 and over.
Children (17 and under): Around 12% to 16% of those crossing are children. In the first half of 2025, this was lower at 10%. Many are lone, unaccompanied children.
Adult Women: A small minority, accounting for roughly 7% to 12% of arrivals.’

The way I read this was that the men would be deported after sentencing, to serve out their prison term in their own countries. That seems the best possible outcome for such a horrible crime, and should prevent them being a risk for a number of years.
I do hope that will be the case.
If one is wanted for other crimes ie murder, as reported yesterday, in his own country, I hope he is charged with that too and is never released.
The victim has received a life sentence from these vile creatures.
After the verdicts, Llewellyn-Waters told the judge all three defendants were in the process of appealing against their refused asylum applications.
If asylum is refused, why are asylum seekers allowed to wander our streets whilst appeals are underway?

*They're the type who say they would be happy to take in an asylum seeker, but never get round to doing it*
What type is that please?
Is it the same type who is in depair when they read about Brighton? They type who invites people from so called asylum hotels to join their running club? The type that hosts Ukrainian people? The type that opens up the Church food pantry every week for destitute people?
There is no type. We are all human beings and anybody with a shred of empathy is appalled by this crime.
Maybe "stereotype" was meant , not "type".
The use of the word "type" is derogatory in this context.

I want the boats to stop, I want the lorries still sneaking in, to stop.
I want Asylum Seekers processed thoroughly and quickly and those not meeting the criteria sent back.
I want those human rights lawyers who encourage said AS to lie to be struck off.
However, I also want people to understand and recognise that many AS, who’ve made arduous and danger journeys to reach our shores are not rapists and murders.
Rape is never right, it can never been excused. Men rape, men from many different faiths/countries/nationalities, sadly there are men like these across our world.
I know some of you won’t agree, that’s fine, given the events in our sad world there’s many displaced people, they have to live somewhere and we need to accept our share.
I agree, those commiting crimes of any nature, when found guilty, need to be immediately imprisoned and when their sentences over immediately deported.
I'm like you. I have no problem with families arriving here for a better life. Working, paying their way and being decent citizens. Neither do I have a problem with seeing a mosque or synagogue on a British street, providing they respect our religions too.
What I do object to and am very concerned about are the huge percentage of young, single men not applying through the proper channels. So many of them see women as only any good for cooking, cleaning and sex. They are never seen as equal or respected.
I fear it is already too late.
I think there a percentage of AS coming here via illegal means, but, in my opinion, it’s still the minority.
Putting them into hotels, all together, unmonitored, was always a foolish idea and I’m not sure where one would temporarily house them.
It’s a huge problem, and I don’t have the answers.
I do know though that many genuine asylum seekers fleeing wars and corrupt regimes are being tarred and labelled as “criminals” and potential rapists, this too is unfair.
Btw, the comment “you house them then” is utterly pointless, very few of us would allow anyone to live in our homes if we didn’t know them.
What I do know is that people like Trump, Putin and Netanyahu are causing more and more displaced people, men, women and children, who have to live somewhere.
I also know how grateful I that in my own lifetime I lived in a country which hasn’t been attacked by another nation.

I don’t think that these rapists/criminals are fleeing persecution in their own country but more likely fleeing the law, facing jail time in their country of origin.
Imho there are gangs coming here to continue their crimes unabated. Which then makes it really hard for genuine asylum seekers.
I have no answers but think that vetting asylum seekers in the first country they arrive in would save a lot of trouble down the line.
But the international law around Asylum Seekers makes this impossible.

There are gangs who come to the uk to steal high end goods.
They arnt asylum seekers but are called robbery tourists.
Very organised.

Yes, I agree, and these are the very people we do not want here, that’s why we need a far more efficient and effective asylum seeking process.
There are reasons men come alone to seek asylum, not for all, but many married men with young families come first, they sometimes have treacherous journeys from places far far away.
Their journeys are arduous and hard.
Many Asylum Seekers come from Syria, Afghanistan, and other countries which are a long way away. Those crossing the channel are not starting their journeys there, children would possibly not survive these journeys, so men come first, in the hope that if their claim is accepted they can work and raise funds to fly their wives and children across here.
I’m not in favour of barring all single men. How do you propose family groups get here? Many of the country’s they are coming from would require visa to enter our country, there’s no such thing as an Asylum Visa and in order to claim Asylum you have to physically be in the country in which you choose to seek Asylum.

As TerriBull posted earlier on another thread, prosecutors have actually alleged that one of these men is wanted for murder in his home country.
