What Is Melania's Strategy?

Her out-of-the-blue announcement denying any connection with the late Jeffrey Epstein has certainly brought the whole scandalous mess back into the media spotlight.

The Iran-USA-Israel war had submerged the Epstein business but the First Lady's attention-grabbing speech has put her husband's friendship/involvement with a very rich, very convicted paedophile right back at the top of the agenda.

Is this her idea of defending her husband? Or has she got a more sinister motive?

It seems beyond bizarre.

I do wonder that quite often!

AGAA4 Fri 10-Apr-26 09:26:19

She may have a reason to though now fancythat. Does she know that some unwelcome news is coming re. Epstein.
This is all conjecture of course and it may be just what she says it is.

eazybee Fri 10-Apr-26 09:57:08

It could just be that she is sick and tired of all the innuendo that keeps being repeated with little evidence.

Having listened to her very carefully worded speech it is as much about what she didn't say.

As they mixed in the same circles, she admits to being acquainted with Epstein and Maxwell on a superficial level but nothing she said defends or explains any connection Donald Trump may have had.

The overall impression I gained was that she wanted to distance herself from any involvement with Epstein without commenting on any other issues apart from giving a voice to the victims.

She concluded by suggesting that the victims be given the opportunity of making individual statements under oath.

As to her motives for making this speech at this particular time - I think we will just have to wait and see.

Good Lord!

Heather Cox Richardson has noted this in her daily 'Letter from an American'

She discusses whether or not Trump knew that Melania was making the statement and her 'letter' finishes with this:

And then, at 7:49 tonight, the president’s social media account posted a graphic video of a man killing a woman with a hammer. The screed that accompanied the video attacked Haitian immigrants, former president Joe Biden, and “the Radical Democrats in Congress.” The post echoed the usual vicious racism to which Trump turns to feed his base. But it is hard to miss that hours after his wife gave an unexpected press conference about Jeffrey Epstein, Trump posted a video of a woman’s murder.

It makes a change for a different Trump to be the 'headline'.

AGAA4 Fri 10-Apr-26 10:56:29

A video of a man killing a woman with a hammer! How does Trump get away with this. If it was directed at Melania he needs so be sectioned.

Et tu Melania grin

There have been multiple videos on X showing FOTUS with Epstein.

Were they AI? who knows 🤷‍♀️

If that is the case then why hasn't the First Lady taken legal action?

Or would that open the biggest can of worms that the White House has ever had to deal with?

ronib Fri 10-Apr-26 11:37:37

Am waiting for Hilary Clinton’s similar rebuttal….

Maremia Fri 10-Apr-26 11:42:25

How often has Hilary Clinton been mentioned in the files so far?

ronib Fri 10-Apr-26 11:45:11

Over 800 times for Hilary and over 1100 for Bill Clinton.

Allira Fri 10-Apr-26 11:47:36

She is distancing herself from her husband. She knows he's on his way out and has probably only stayed with him firstly because he probably threatened her that she would lose custody of their child and now the child is an adult, she may be fearful of what Trump is capable of. He has no loyalty, perhaps he has made threats.

That is just a theory of course.

Who put up the videos on X , what are there motives I wonder?

There are multiple photos of POTUS, FLOTUS, Epstein and Maxwell together, some of which were shown on Breakfast News this morning. These have been around for decades.

Well, just because they met socially as couples does not mean she was involved in any way.

While a lot of young vulnerable girls were are, and probably always will be, trafficked for sex. There is also a cohort of older women who get involved with these vile networks of predatory men for what they can get out of it and the stakes are high.

Every billionaire seems to have a bimbo wife hanging off their arm. Perhaps Melania Trump is too old to be described as a bimbo, her connection was legalised and it has lasted, which is more than can be said for most of these marriages.

I always feel its a mixture of

knowing which side her bread is buttered

and

fear of consequences of splitting - Trump's not one to take it lightly, massive offence to ego and so on.

I mean, just imagine...no, don't lets go there..

Wyllow I've thought that for a long time.

Melania is very impassive. We rarely see her true self, except perhaps when she is chatting to children when she seems relaxed and smiling.

Much of what Trump says is the stuff of fantasy
Much of what he does is not. He is a dangerous man.

You need to stop these fantasies ronib. If there was enough to condemn the Clintons, it would already have gone exactly the same for them as it has for Andrew and Mandelson. There is nothing Trump would want the DoJ to release more than dirt on Clinton - other than dirt on Obama.

ronib Fri 10-Apr-26 12:21:36

Casdon sorry but am reserving my super powers to play with my grandchildren.
The game is still being played out.

Casdon Fri 10-Apr-26 12:27:23

Yes, the game is certainly still being played out. Only the picture cards are left now. I think we know who they are, without employing super powers.

Galaxy Fri 10-Apr-26 12:28:30

I think it is really clear that Clinton was certainly involved with young women connected to epstein, I think it is likely that that is the same for Trump, neither mandelsson or andrew have faced any sort of charges for sexual crimes, it is for the sharing of information. Obviously andrew paid damages which in my view indicates guilt, but thats almost by the by. No men has been charged with any sexual crimes connected to epstein so the fact that Clinton hasn't , doesn't in my view indicate a great deal.

He is a dangerous man.

Everyone is fearful of Trump - those in the inner circle tread softly, obsequiously, around him. No-one dares contradict him. His 'faith advisor' or whatever she's called hovers over him like a ministering angel whilst his staff circle round him in prayer. They touch his shoulder. He sits there with that almost permanent belligerent pout soaking it up. He is being treated like a Deity.

They are feeding his narcissistic egomania and he believes he's omnipotent - because no-one will risk incurring his wrath by speaking against him.

You can see how he reacts when he doesn't get his own way - that expletive-ridden threat to bomb Iran back to the stone-age... the ease with which he talks about slaughtering possibly millions of people.

He's a ticking time bomb, and he's bloody dangerous.

AGAA4 Fri 10-Apr-26 12:59:19

Trump is definitely dangerous. He has caused chaos across the middle east and angers virtually everyone.
It needs a cool head to lead a country like the US. Trump is volatile, can't take advice or criticism and is only interested in himself.
The US deserves so much better.

I am not sure why Hillary was brought into this. Especially since she sat down for Congress and answered all their questions. For over a decade, we keep hearing "but Hilary!" everytime Trump or Melania does something. Same as we hear it's Biden's fault,.or Obama's fault. Frankly, I can't take anyone seriously who so thoroughly can't grasp that Trump and Milania are just not good people trying to go good things for the world.

Melania is no victim, there are multiple photos and account of her knowing, meeting, and spending time with Epstein and Maxwell, taken long before AI.

"To better understand Hillary Clinton’s implication in the Epstein scandal, the News reviewed all documents containing the term “Hillary” within the Epstein files. Of the 1,203 files mentioning “Hillary” — as of Feb. 25 — the News recorded 802 unique documents specifically referencing Hillary Clinton. Each relevant file was then categorized by content, medium and time period.

The News’ analysis revealed that the files contained zero verified in-person or digital communications between Hillary Clinton and Epstein directly. "
