Iran is charging 2 million dollars to escort certain ships from the Strait of Hormuz. My question is how can this be done safely if the Strait is littered with mines?

If you have laid the mines you know exactly where they are, and what route to take to avoid them?

In that case every ship can see the way through, as can US military which has eyes on everything.

You misunderstand Oreo. What I meant was does ronib know that all these three types of mines were used by Iran in the Straits? My thought is that they are not stupid, if they wanted to lay mines they would only lay a type that they had tracked and anchored, where they know exactly where they are, and they would escort the ships of friendly nations through away from the places they had laid the mines.

And yet, some ships are getting through.

The bigger question is which company will be willing to insure the ships!

The Iranians will have an exact blue print of where the mines are, which is why they are able to get ships through, but no other ship should be willing to take the risk and kill its crew.

He suggests that it is an impossible problem, and the Iranians hold all the cards at present just with a few mines snd cheap drones.

The way he explained, the mines are now very very small, will detonate simply through pressure and are lethal.

The US Navy is a damn site better than ours, and the Iranian ships are destroyed.
The real problem is that ships have to go so close to the Iranian shore as they go through the Strait.
It will be worked out one way or the other.
