I can hardly believe I read that they’re ‘considering’ it. Yes, I know it will take an Act of Parliament, but to be ‘considering’ it - why don’t they just get on and DO it? How many MPs would actually vote against it?

At 8th in line it's all a bit irrelevant.
I do feel he is a bit of an r.......h...e but what happened to innocent till proven guilty? How come certain Americans, mentioned more thsn 30k times in files are not arrested? Clearly UK and US ideas of morality snd justice are differrnt

I really completely indifferent as to what Americans are doing. Hell would freeze over before I would use their ideas of morality and justice as a moral compass.

Those who want end of monarchy will hope he does become king surely?

Actually no - he’s done enough damage already.

Redhead56 Sun 22-Feb-26 00:55:22

Agree they should just get on with it ASAP.

nanna8 Sun 22-Feb-26 06:15:35

It would cost time and money ( lawyers etc) More damage emanating from him. In the end who would pay ? Taxpayers?

Casdon Sun 22-Feb-26 09:17:41

It would be wrong to move on this before he is found guilty of a crime. We aren’t there yet.

Regardless of any opinions about this man- he has still not been found guilty of any misdoings and therefore remains innocent under the law.

To strip him of this last vestige of privilege would almost certainly be condemning him outside the law.

I think parliament has far more important things to do, should freak circumstances make him King- then it is unlikely he would ever be crowned anyway.

Not much of a story really...

Well said.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 22-Feb-26 09:29:52

Just imagine that some very peculiar disaster took out the first 7 in line.

Can you honestly imagine that anyone would accept Windsor as the King.

Of course not!

So just do it without fuss or bother. Who on earth cares?

Yes, the question I keep asking myself is, how come no famous/wealthy/eminent Americans are yet named, or being required to give evidence? The only person in prison, AFAIK, (of course not counting JE who died there) is Ghislaine.

The fact is, the Yanks absolutely ‘love to hate’ a Bad Brit (why else are Brits often cast as the baddies in films?) and of course a Royal Brit to heap censure on is even better.

Of course Andrew has been as dodgy as hell, I’m certainly not making excuses, but where are the famous Yanks - or indeed any others - who also enjoyed Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘favours’ in the form of young female flesh?

sodapop Sun 22-Feb-26 12:51:25

Ridiculous waste of time and money to do this. Political grandstanding.

Daft to name it after him in the first place - I mean why? Just why?

Because he has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.

MT62 Sun 22-Feb-26 16:59:38

If he’s innocent, why strip him of any titles? Also if he’s innocent why pay VG 12 million?
If I had been PA, & innocent, I would have stuck to my guns & refused to pay any money.

One useful job for Andrew would be to publicly name over here, all the people he met chez Epstein on whatever occasion, male, or female, famous or not.

sodapop Sun 22-Feb-26 17:27:00

I agree Witzend it does seem that Andrew's status royal or otherwise is making him the focus of this scandal. He is certainly being hounded, I hold no brief for him and his actions but he is not alone in all this.

nanna8 Sun 22-Feb-26 22:27:20

I suppose whilst the media go after him it deflects views from the Americans who were heavily involved. Though why the British press don’t see this, who knows ?

Allira Sun 22-Feb-26 22:41:57

According to posters from the USA, Americans who were possibly involved have been mentioned in the news media over there.

Obviously the British news media is concentrating on a prominent British person, a member of the Royal family, and the fact that Andrew has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office is what is hitting the headlines.

StoneofDestiny Mon 23-Feb-26 07:01:48

Just shows up how ridiculous the whole ‘line of succession’ is!

CariadAgain Mon 23-Feb-26 07:18:47

Tuliptree

If Andrew wanted to show some contrition he could voluntarily give up his rights to succession.

I think we'd all reckon the chances of that are precisely zero - less than zero.

He is so very "entitled" that he simply won't do that. Add in the fact he is clearly a "person of low brain" as Eeyore (I think it is) might say - but not that low that he won't perceive himself as having some degree of protection for the misdeeds he has committed. He might well think (and he might well be accurate on that) that keeping as much as he can manage of the status quo will help to protect him from punishment for what he's done.

It looks like he is going to put us all through wasting parliamentary etc time to give him the Order of the Boot totally and kick him out of the "line of succession". But if that's how things are done in this country - then I guess we have to "grit teeth and waste that parliamentary time" (unless Mother Nature is kind to us all and the problem ceases to exist - courtesy of a major illness or the like). He doesn't exactly look healthy - I would imagine he does have some health problems....so maybe one of them ramps up and "no need for that wasting of our time" after all....

REKA Mon 23-Feb-26 07:40:11

No time for Andrew Entitled, spoilt, minimal intelligence, bookish etc etc

However now and then I do wonder if he might think this is all too much and goes and does something he won't live to regret.

We all have mental health and his must be through the roof.

Would everyone be pleased if he decided to slip off this mortal coil?

I think he's too arrogant to do such a thing but living with this constant stream of press comment must be very difficult to live with.

Nope not sympathetic towards him at all, just mindful

REKA Mon 23-Feb-26 07:40:41

For bookish, read boorish!

CariadAgain Mon 23-Feb-26 07:47:46

It would save us all a lot of trouble.

I'm inclined to think he's much more likely to "hang on in there" though....and carry right on.

eazybee Mon 23-Feb-26 08:04:53

I thought it rather petty when the Police called to check his gun licences and I believe, confiscated his guns.

Perhaps they were taking preventive measures.
