Rennee Good's family lawyers have now released the results of an independent autopsy, showing three gunshot wounds. She was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said at the time the agent opened fire after Good tried to ram officers with her vehicle.

The DHS has not yet published the outcome of its investigation. We await details of what legal action Good's family lawyers may take against DHS. This thread has been started as the previous thread comes towards its 1000 post end to discuss the aftermath, impact and repercussions.

Trump has now tried to trash one of the US Olympians because he had the temerity to suggest (rather gently) that he is proud to represent his country, but not proud of what is happening in his country.

Trump, and MAGA, are increasingly becoming a laughing stock here. Good. I would rather laugh at them than fear them.

Trump doesn't know that the competitors at the first Olympic Games in Greece were not representing any country - they were there as individual athletes, not as ambassadors, for the sake of personal honour, not political fame.

It is like watching really badly written satire.
You literally couldn’t write it.

They are promising to pull out of Minneapolis, those on the ground there are skeptical.

We now have reports of ICE behavior in Pittsburg. One of these days they are going to go into a city that aren't as nice as Minnesotians (I'm not sure that is a word by the way) and things will get uglier.

I am hoping the pressure on Noem and Bondi keeps rising. The closer we get to midterms, the more the GOP is voting against him. Mostly.

Did someone actually say, 'It should be in English, just as the Bible was written in English'?
Hard to tell what is parody now.

I think not, Maremia

The saying, abd versions of it are a "shorthand" for linguistic isolationism.

It’s often resurrected in modern political satire. Recently something similar was falsely attributed to former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem during debates over bilingualism.

It has become a template "joke" used to poke fun at perceived anti-intellectualism.
I think it goes back to the 1800s if not earlier.

I can't believe anyone ever defended these people, especially after watching the video.

There may very well be justice for Pretti.

"It is among at least five shootings in which initial descriptions by the immigration officials were later contradicted by video evidence. Those included the fatal Minneapolis shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, where bystander video quickly raised questions about how they were initially described."

"Hundreds of judges around the country have ruled more than 4,400 times since October that President Donald Trump’s administration is detaining immigrants unlawfully, a Reuters review of court records found.
The decisions amount to a sweeping legal rebuke of Trump’s immigration crackdown. Yet the administration has continued jailing people indefinitely even after courts ruled the policy was illegal."

Ink ow this is an old topic, but I wanted to post some follow up.

States are attempting to hold Federal officials responsible for what happened.

Sadly, this attempt is probably the only resolution the victims will get.

It's still relevant imaround; thanks for the update.

History will see their stories with a clearer eye than this administration, if that is any comfort to their families and friends.

I forgot the link. I am a mess today apparently, so hopefully this works.

It is being reported Kristi Noem has been fired. It is also being reported that she stepped down.

However it happened, good riddance. It will be interesting to see who he nominates. Probably someone worse, so I am going to enjoy this win for the rest of today.
