Luckygirl - Meghan does cause harm though. I believe she co-ercively controls Harry. I have always said if he was treating her the way she treats him there would be more of an outcry. She has alienated him from his family and friends. Charles has barely seen his grandchildren. She lies about tiaras, asking to use the Queen's nickname, being married three days before, she claimed she had never heard of Princes Diana or knew anything about the Royal family to name a few incidents off the top of my head. The minute the lie is questioned she claims the British public are racist. Nope the vast majority of us have seen through her and feel sad she took our favourite royal away from us. So to answer the question, "Will Meghan have any regrets?" I think it's fair to say no because Meghan only cares about number one.

Good post Bukkie. We have a perfect right to comment on them. They are in the public eye and despite their protestations, seems determined to stay there. When Charles walked her down the aisle her father must have been devastated.

I think it's impossible to know what goes on inside relationships and why people are estranged. Based on that I don't believe it's fair to comment.

It's not every day your average American daughter marries a Prince. He needed advice. Unless, of course, like his daughter, he received months of training in Royal protocol then denied having any help at all.

I think she’s ashamed of her father and her family. His ‘sins’ re having a photo taken etc were very slight and I believe brought on by being completely ignored by the couple before the wedding. What gentleman makes no contact at all with the father of his bride to be, imperfect as he may have been? He certainly helped Meghan to the very best of his ability when she was growing up.

We have a right to judge Harry and Meghan as we the taxpayers, paid for that massive wedding and far more.

The taxpayer only paid for the security for the wedding, although the cost of that was huge.

Yes, that was strange and if we believe media reports, Meghan's father did do his best for her when she was growing up, paying for private schooling etc.

Thomas Markle was her stalwart, he raised her, and went out on a limb to give her the benefits of a good education at a private school and then beyond into further education, quite costly in the US. What more could he have done for her, hands on dad, whilst juggling a career at the same time. I read somewhere or other her mother went off travelling, whether that's true or not, who knows. It's rare for a mother to leave a young child in the care of their father, I can't imagine ever wanting to have done that even when they were at their most annoying the day to day contact with children is pretty innate when they're young. Her dad made one faux pas, in talking to the media, but that's a bit rich for them to come down on him like a ton of bricks when the gilded pair made innumerable pacts with the devil themselves and have been indiscreet, particularly in throwing members of the family under the bus who haven't the recourse to respond. The world would have left them alone, as some posters suggest here, if they'd made it their business to secure a private life away from the constant glare, but they didn't want that did they? and furthermore they've often colluded with the media for their own ends.

I gather in the Christmas special Meghan simpers on about close family seasonal ties and traditions ignoring the great big elephants trampling all over her schmaltzy smorgasbord of utter banality. Oh just give us Nigella any day of the week On a personal note, having moved to Sussex, why?, since they've now departed our shores, do they still have to hang on to that title, and boy does she like to. Galling! particularly as they have no associations with this county. In any event, I thought they were not supposed to use titles for commercial gain, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I feel sorry for her dad she has broken his heart and I hope that she can visit him soon and just make it up, he does sound very ill and probably not long for this world.

That's not correct at all! Ruthlessly betrayed her for money and fame! Nonsense. And before i rant on I am not a hater of the pair of them.
But Harry and Meghan paid him no attention at all. The first Christmas M spent with the royals, H did an interview with Radio 4 where he said Meghan loved the day, being with the family she never had. Her family then pointed out she had had a loving family.

Harry never met his father in law. Before the wedding there was no meeting. I found this slightly odd.

Then came the bombardment of her father by paparazzi. They were camped outside his home, taking endless photos. So he went along with some shameless paps and had some photos taken. Which caused the massive backlash .

Then he ended up in hospital and the rest is history

As for being scared he'd write a book, nothing to stop him from writing a book now, but he hasn't.

He just didn't fit with her perfect image so he's been ignored.

It's all rather sad, but I doubt very much M will show any sadness about this news

When a parent betrays their child for money and that child cuts you off, you reap what you sow. I have no sympathy for this man.

What I always thought was strange was the fact that, apart from her mother, Meghan didn’t have one member of her family at her wedding. OK, she had fallen out with her father, sister and brother but surely she must have wider family members such as possibly grandparents , uncles, aunties etc on both her father and mother’s side, why were none of them invited? Instead she preferred to invite a load of Hollywood A listers who I’m sure she had never mixed with before in her life!

Having rushed to marry into the royal family Meghan has insulted my country and institutions which I value, for money, and is attempting to turn her life 'style' into public entertainment, again for money. I have no sympathy for her whatsoever.

I am fascinated by this generalised hatred. Quite bizarre!

It is important to be clear about the couple and the media. They have no choice but to engage with the media because it hounds them - they cannot pretend it is not there. Sometimes they choose to do it on their own terms and who can blame them?

If any of us were to be hounded by the media in this way wo99uld we just sit tight and say nowt?

I think Thomas Markle knew exactly what Meghans life style had been pre marriage, which may well have contradicted the style she was promoting. What if he spilt the beans??!! It is whispered that she and (Prince) Andrew were not strangers, so who knows what Thomas might have revealed. Or it could be that her family are just not grand enough for this social climber.

The way she has treated her poor father is an absolute disgrace.
Yes he made mistakes, certainly by falling for the lies of the photographers before the wedding, but he has apologised for that, countless times.
Even if in her opinion her father fell short in other ways, a loving daughter would find a way to forgive, wouldn’t they?

She has form over the years for dropping people once they are of no further use to her, and I really can’t ever see her changing.

After seeing clips of her Christmas offering on Netflix I think sadly she just craves attention and the limelight and will go to any lengths to gain and keep it.
It is all out there to be seen, no guessing about content ,it is there.
