The agreement is a phased withdrawl in the east and north, women and the injured or sick hostages first, in return for several thousand Palestinian prisoners. The security zone on the Egyptian border stays

Recovering hostages is a big issue in Israel so I would expect them to show restraint.

I was bewildered by the removal of the thread also..

Although I would love to see Gaza become a separate, self governing, free state I don't think Israel will allow that to happen.. much less assist in the enormous rebuilding...

So I don't think this agreement will last..

The agreement may or may not last but that’s another matter about Gaza being a free state! Given what hamas did it will never be a free state or hamas allowed to run anything more than a bread stall.

The agreement will last if both sides abide by the rules set for them.

Like killing dozens more in Gaza last night?

My heart sank last night when I read about more attacks.

I so hope there will be a cease fire, and that current celebrations in both Gaza and Israel are not wiped out.

Whitewavemark The period between the announcement and the commencement of the ceasefire on the Israeli/Lebanese border was marked by the heaviest rocket fire from both side. Then the hour of the ceasefire arrived and everything stopped, and it has been fairly quiet since. Of course it would be best if all hostilities stopped straight away but I very much hope for a similar occurrence on Sunday. Keeping hopeful and positive here.

In the absence of the ability to run free and fair elections though. Hamas and PLO refused to allow them. So I don’t see them as a legitimate governing body.

I think Netanyahu is waiting to give Trump an easy win.
