I’ve been hopeful since the election, that the promises to focus on protecting women and girls/children would be upheld. I’ve just seen Jess Phillips on ch4 talking about the frequent meetings to discuss eg the implementation of the Jay report.

How about we concentrate on discussing the measures proposed in Yvette Cooper's Bill, which look more constructive than Musk's DEstructive attacks? It is obvious that planning and discussions have been going on to implement what was in the 2022 report in the original query, instead of starting on another - which would not be completed for several years and delay constructive legislation on the subject.

Similar plans for a mandatory reporting obligation on professionals were supposed to be introduced last year as part of Rishi Sunak’s criminal justice bill, but campaigners and lawyers heavily criticised them for being “watered down” - they did not include criminal sanctions for professionals who fail to report claims of child sexual abuse.

If all David can come up with is deflections about the PO scandal I don't think he actually has any evidence of government suppression in connection with grooming gangs.

Not a deflection an example of how governments do interfere with investigations and their implementation.

Starmer has responding to Musks claims and has asked for them to be verified

I am a bit wary of that info, the IICSA are stating they dont know the prevalence of child sex abuse by groups of men or who is doing it. Without sounding like a crazed conspiracy theorist I am very wary of the police standpoint on this issue.

There was a very interesting interview on the World at One , on R4 with the lead on child abuse on the National Police Chief's Council.

He gave some really interesting statistics. Organised sex abuse where children are deliberatly targetted by groups, usually of men, accounts for only 3% of all abuse and within that 3%, the majority of the abause is perpetrated within the family, with groups of male relatives systematically abusing femals.

he also said that 52% of all reported sex abuse involving children is between children and I would imagine was consensual sex betwenntwo sub -16 year olds.

I think the prey we have targetted are the wrong ones, no matter how heinous their behaviour.

There has been a national enquiry in to child sex abuse in general, which seems to have been a waste of time because 10 yrs on none of the recommendations have been implemented.

It didn’t focus on Rotherham, the police and social services knew full well what was happening but decided nothing needed to be done, did the DPP decide that it was not in the public interest not to prosecute.

But there was an inquiry, which focussed on Rotherham.

And if you don't mean that, then what are you implying in your post at 12:30:59? It sounds very much as if you are implying that there WAS endorsement from above encouraging the LAs to fail to act while holding information that would justify them in arresting people on these charges? If you are in possession of anything at all which would back an accusation like that, it is your duty to report it.
