Of course we have all heard about ‘so called ‘honour’ killings, My main point was Afghanistan is the only country in the world which refuses girls and young women an education. Or to be heard outside their homes.

Women live in extreme fear there.
As for allowing men in this country, they won’t be able to impose such misogynistic rules here.

I was heartened to see the Afghan girls who are refugees here coming home from a local secondary school the other week; however, they are the lucky few.

It will take enormous strength of character from women worldwide to start the proverbial ball rolling against the inhuman treatment of women and girls by the Taliban.

I think we are 'allowing' far more who do not agree with this regime and its treatment of women but who are tortured and imprisoned for doing so.

Imprisoning women like this also traps men in complying with this evil ideology and so they get out because they can, unlike the women who aren't allowed to leave.

There are many agencies working to assist and help the Afghans from outside the country, despite all the difficulties in doing so.

Raising these issues is important though, and I don't think the cricket should go ahead either.

However, looking more closely at our involvement in the arms and drugs trade might prove more worthwhile.

I've signed it. If doing that and deploring Afghan and other men who abuse females makes me racist then so be it.

Of course they shouldn't play but sport is more important. We shouldn't have been in the last world cup due to Qatar's appalling human rights record but we were, so I don't suppose what's happening in Afghanistan will stop play.

Absolutely appalling situation for these women. They are half the population but can't be seen or heard. They can't even go in their own kitchens if they could be seen from a window. It's crazy. These Afghan men are perverted bullies. This is nothing to do with Islam.

So terribly sad. It's beyond our conprehension.
