Well, from memory, I think she was only sacked once from a ministerial post whereas Braverman was sacked twice? Which makes her slightly preferable to the latter.
There are three strong and opinionated women on the right of the Tory party at the moment who will all be fighting for the leadership. I read yesterday that they are considering Iain Duncan-Smith as an interim leader so that they can properly consider the way forward. That seems sensible to me, there is time for them to really define what the party will stand for long term before jumping on any bandwagons.

I thought Sunak has said he will continue for now. Whatās the point of an interim leader when theyāve already got one? Sunak has indicated he will stay for now. No need for anyone else.
Sunak's heart is not in it, he wants to escape as soon as he possibly can in pursuit of his next glittering prize. He is not used to failure, or leadership for that matter. But immediately the unpleasant attacks on anyone who thinks of standing.
I am definitely a bit right of centre but if Priti Patel, Suella Braverman or Kemi Badenoch become leader I will not rejoin the Conservative Party. (Despite the local Con Club being rather good)
(Most of our family tore up their membership cards when Ms.Truss was chosen )
"OMG Sheās awful far right and nasty nearly as bad as Suella Braverman." "A discredited ghost from the past re-emerges." "She is one person I hope does not win. I just cannot take to her. Far right as well."
I think opinions on politicians and their politics are entirely justified and in no way constitute an āunpleasant attackā unless of course they involve personal issues, height, looks, physical features, family etc (The Donaldās permatan and Guinea pig coiffure excepted of course ) Iāve seen and heard infinitely worse - as they say āif you canāt take the heat, get out of the kitchenā.

I think that you and your family should rejoin the tory party, GG13, if only to try to prevent the election of a far right leader in any upcoming leadership vote.
It is interesting to see that the opinions of what most of us would see as the centrist part of the Tory party, as represented by Robert Buckland for example, are being ignored by those reported to be fighting for the leadership. We are already seeing unedifying personal attacks on each other by two of the main female contenders. Although I am happy with the election result, I think an effective opposition is an essential part of good governance, yet again the Tories have demonstrated that personality and party is more important than country.

There have been lengthy threads attacking Angela Raynor in the most unpleasant personal ways, not political: I agree Rosie.
I can't help remembering that Patel was a co-author of the book 'Britannia Unchained' in which the view that the British worker is lazy was expressed. I don't think that anyone who endorses that view has a place as party leader, and a possible PM of the UK.
I was going to say that surely the Tory Party members would never vote for her to be PM but then remembered that they had done just that with Liz Truss. Patel would set the Conservatives back even further. Tom Tugendhat would be my preference.
