That’s pretty pointless but it might make you feel better.
Fixed term Parliament.
I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for the next general election and hope that apathy doesn’t result in a low turnout, which seems to be the norm these days, sadly.

Fixed term Parliament.
Had you not noticed that the fixed term parliament act was repealed last year?
www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2022/11/enacted
It was replaced by a provision that a parliamentary term could last no longer than 5 years.
Anyway, GEs in 2017 & 2019 made a bit of a mockery of the FTA.
I've signed
MaizieD no completely forgotten about the repeal to the LibDem fixed parliament act…. But arguably five years guaranteed power no matter what isn’t much of a change?
Crikey, the apathy on here. Don't any of you care about what is going on? Don't any of you want a change?

It isn't five year's guaranteed power, though. A Ge can be called as the result of a vote of no confidence in the government. Or if the government loses a key bill. Or if the PM thinks it could put them at an electoral advantage.
Of course, a mass uprising against the government could do it, like the introduction of the Poll Tax with resultant Poll Tax riots being Thatcher's downfall...
But I don't see that happening ATM..
I'd prefer proportional representation because I'd like the Lib Dems leading.. anything to get this lot out

Want a change. Care.
But dont want Labour, Libs, Greens either. Or want even less.
So [shrug]. What are those who think like me supposed to do?
No apathy here!
There is a demonstration here in Edinburgh this weekend . A rally to get Independence on the agenda again. People here are seriously fed up. We didn't vote for this government and the atrocities it is visiting upon the people of the UK.
These people who are currently supposed to be 'leading' are a set of clown... very dangerous, self serving ones! Power above all else!
We are rapidly declining! More and more people are going to be homeless, cold and hungry this winter and people in work having to use food banks ... nah!!
Its disgusting!
The thought of the other lot, spend now, pay later and back peddling on everything, , fills me with dread. I’ve lived long enough to know most politicians are out for themselves, also not to trust Labour.
Allsorts you beg the question though - just who do we trust? I would like more checks and balances on the way we are governed so that prime ministers like Truss and Johnson are given far less power……. Runaway horses come to mind.
Want a change - yes.
Care deeply.
Don't want Labour.
Won't vote.

I'd like it too but it's not going to happen in the near future.
I think that those who don't want the Tories to remain in power but don't like any other party could look at the charts that will eventually come of constituencies where tactical voting might work.
You may well have to hold your nose and vote for a party you don't like but it's important to get the Tories. 13 (soon to be 14) years of Tory misrule.
I think that the Lib Dems have their eyes on 80 seats that they think they could win.
In principle I approve of Parly petitions but I signed one a few years ago which got over 100,000 signatures and therefore initiated a debate in Westminster Hall. Alas, most of the Labour Party didn't show up and of course these debates have no legislative powers.
I'm with fancythat on this. No apathy here. Deep despair perhaps.
I hope we do have an early election.
I've just watched a recording of "Partygate" (Channel 4), where everything was based on film, interviews and sworn testimony.
I remembered again how vile this lot are. My Dad died alone while they were partying and laughing and sneering at Joe Public.😡
That's without the way they have trashed this country.
So, I wouldn't throw water on a Tory on fire, and I'd sooner an election to be as soon as possible.
I expect they'll cling on to the last possible moment though.🙄
They will hold out to the bitter end or should an opportune moment occur they will grab it. We can’t have another term of the same. No matter how disenchanted we feel about the political choices we have on display I feel it is our duty to vote. Even if you are so undecided that you select an independent candidate, better that than complete withdrawal from the process which decides you and your loved one’s future.
no chance of me signing

The UK votes as a whole, not just little countries voting independantly.

You’re sailing close to the wind with that comment Freya5. We may all vote on the same day in a general election, but the ‘little countries’ as you so eloquently put it don’t vote for the same parties as England does.

You mean just like the Tories are? Horrendous levels of debt, back peddling on everything, out for themselves. Plus a nice bit of gaslighting and lies.
Signed
It's not apathy here. It's sheer uncertainty. I don't like this government but I don't like the other lot either.
