Did he just compare the language used by government to 1930s Germany? Or did he actually reference Nazi Germany?

The weird thing is that the bbc has now got itself in the position that anyone who now presents motd will appear to be supporting the governments position.

Galaxy Fri 10-Mar-23 20:17:43

If you havent been voicing concerns about free speech for years you havent been paying attention.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 10-Mar-23 20:19:23

I think that not many of us are not surprised at the governments culture war- it was expected, as they have nothing in their record that will get them any support, but I bet very few thought that the bbc would be helping them in this culture war,

Forsythia
They’re just ex footballers. Millionaire ex footballers.

He, at the least, seems to be an intelligent human being with a knowledge of history. Where do you come on that score?

You seem to believe you are entitled to voice your opinion, however trivial. You appear to think that however much you direct ridicule at another person, that person may not give his views on another public forum supporting those who are being persecuted.

What's so great about you?

Designed to cover up a lack-lustre budget, perhaps?

Yes indeed - and many of us have been doing just that.

Totally agree but I must admit I'm surprised Whitewavemark

They have long criticised "woke" culture as "cancel culture" (with little intelligent knowledge of how the term arose and what it meant to those "awakening" from racist hate)

but here they are engaging in a vitriolic cancel culture themselves.

I know that is in a different thread on gransnet, but taking David Attenborough's programme "down' and leaving it only on I player because of its critique of the rich and powerful interests in action on climate change is incredibly significant.

it really puts Lineker's comments in their true light "first they came for the.....

The man is a "national treasure" for goodness sake and they've gone for him.

I do believe it will backfire, big time. Good.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 10-Mar-23 20:30:59

Yes -about Attenborough - I am astounded and totally discombobulated - whatever is the bbc doing?

Siope Fri 10-Mar-23 20:33:11

I never thought I’d see the day when Jeremies Corbyn and Clarkson, Alastair Campbell, and Piers Morgan were on the same side in a media row.
