The BBC brought on Ian Duncan-Smith as her character reference; hardly impartial as she was the Sorcerer's Apprentice to him. Why on earth should any of us expect a member of this government to be disciplined, let alone do the decent thing and resign? They are led by a moral vacuum.

I have met people like her in my working life. The worse thing is that tend to pick on some and not others and it creates the most dreadful atmosphere in an office.

They are cruel and divisive.

She’s not even a half decent Home Secretary.

Loads of sycophantic Conservatives have defended her, including Liam Fox. Both he and Patel were sacked for their dodgy dealings.

As for Ms Patel, Johnson has accepted the Barnard Castle defence from her (i.e a lame excuse) that the bullying was 'unintentional'.

To think that we most of us think that bullying in any context is completely unacceptable..

An independent enquiry found she had broken the code. Ministers have always left their posts after breaking the code. The leader of the independent enquiry has resigned because he has been undermined by the PM.

My money's on her being a bully.

Johnson seems to have sat on this report. Priti Patel is one of his appointments, she fits in well, being not very bright and rather unpleasant.

What does that mean? Let's focus on Johnson and Patel rather than this need to blame Carrie Symonds.

Not quite clear about the allusion to the Sorcerer's apprentice; I somehow doubt that the Sorcerer would have given his apprentice a glowing character reference.

I have always thought that getting a person’s name right was a simple courtesy.

Of course it is MawBe, courteous to get names right.

Johnson seems to be on a roll in the doing himself no favours department.

We do have her former Home Office chief civil servant taking her to an industrial tribunal for, I believe, constructive dismissal, soon. It will be interesting to see what comes out of that (and it is to be hoped that he goes through with it and doesn't settle out of court)

I have always thought that getting a person’s name right was a simple courtesy.

It's still rude to pull people up on it. Two wrongs don't make a right...

You have to remember Maw was a teacher. Once a teacher, always a teacher. ?

A man can be forceful and have strong managerial skills.

A woman with a similar skill set is deemed as bossy and bullying.

Perhaps the civil servants were adverse to change?

What if the OP were dyslexic? I thought it was rude, even insensitive, to correct people because they might have underlying difficulties.

There is no such thing as unintentional bullying. It might somehow (how?) happen once, but not more than that.

It is being spun by No 10 just like the Cummings incident.

Treating us like idiots again, but worse the message it must be sending to the civil servants who can’t defend themselves must be destroying their moral.
