At the risk of making Suzie lose the will to live, I also heard that Meghan took advice from political advisers, in particular Michelle and Barack Obama. Some of the difficulties are undoubtedly cultural.

I think the other issue is that under Canadian law, federal government permission has to be given if "Royal" is used corporately in either a name or if it suggests patronage.

I expect it would have been ok to use it in the USA.

I think that applies to the UK and all the Commonwealth countries.
