Jacqui Smith had a similar problem a few years ago when she wore a "V" neck jumper and due to the angle of the cameras in the H of Cs people realised she had breasts ?
Whether it was an appropriate dress or not, what is not acceptable is the dreadful "trolling" on Social Media and elsewhere that she is receiving.
Have to say I dislike cleavage showing in a normal workplace situation, too.
God for bid a woman have boobs.
Why can’t we all support each other? I wonder this often. And then I see comments like all of the ones on this thread. Women are not proper women unless they are doing it to someone else’s standards apparently.
I don’t understand what that has to do with what women are wearing, Yeh.
That’s a really lovely way to completely undermine the issue of degrading a woman for her clothing choices though.
If you can’t argue the actual point as to why a woman shouldn’t wear what she wants, it’s always fun to bring up a side argument that has nothing to do with it.
Gosh Chestnut your posts really are getting desperate . Bottom of barrel being scraped much . Frankly I think she should be locked up for wearing the dress. BTW does anyone know where the Russia Report is and what’s happening to that enquiry into BJ and JA? Sorry sorry sorry...... back to the dress. Nearly got diverted there into matters of no consequence. Silly me
Why can’t women go naked in summer or at least bare chested the way men can? Because men find it distracting.
But it’s completely OK for men to be shirtless.
If you look around the world, some places actually have passed laws saying that it is legal for women to go shirtless if they choose.
As far as going to work in shorts and T-shirts? As long as there isn’t a dress code, then why not.
How is it infantilising women?
This is the same argument that America is having over the Super Bowl. It was fine last year for the male performer to be half naked, but the women performers who performed this year and were covered are being slated for being slutty and inappropriate and the antithesis of family values.
But again, the rules are different for women and men apparently.
I would say it’s totally inappropriate for a HOC environment (Work!) I say nothing about her character, because that doesn’t come into it, ......it’s a dress issue only. If a male MP appeared say, in a black mesh tshirt, I would think just the same. As we all know, women in any workplace have always to prove themselves more than men. What does a dress/top like that say? It doesn’t say ‘ I am a serious politician’ that’s for sure.
sooziewoozie the subject of this thread is about a female MP being dressed inappropriately, nothing else.If it’s too frivolous a subject for you, find a weightier one, or start a thread on something else.
Not accurate lemon this thread has been about misogyny and drawing utterly baseless pathetic inferences as to her as a person from the wearing of one bloody dress. FFS. RTFT.
Yes, a mistake, and likely one that she won’t be repeating. If there hadn’t been criticism of it though, she may have appeared in similar clothes again. Tbh I can’t see how it even happened once, or why.
But how can it be a mistake suziewoozie unless she dressed in the dark and grabbed the last thing she wore the previous night. She knew what she was doing.
And I’ll post what I want on this and any other thread on lemon. I note you haven’t criticised your right wing misogynistic mates for bringing in irrelevancies. Quelle surprise.
Keep your hair on Summerlove. You’ve missed my point. I don’t give a damn what she chose to wear and can’t abide all the bitching. There is a broader issue here about what is appropriate and I would not bat an eye if a male MP turned up in eg a dress.
What you are wearing is not the point. It is what you are saying and doing that matters.
