If you read Billy Bunter or the female equivalent, you may remember he was treated appallingly and no one was on his side, despite the bullying and cruelties.

The artist depicted him as lazy, greedy and rude and that gave many people at my school who tarred me with the same brush, the right to beat and bully me too.

These days, he would probably take an AK47 to school.

I have always thought rude and patronising quite a reasonable way of replying to the rude and patronising.
