Induction hob

Daughter has a Samsung one. It’s anything but slow!
I’m thinking of changing my gas hob too, I like the easiness of it

I’ve had one for about five years and highly recommend it.
It heats up instantly and responds quickly when turned down.
Also so easy to keep clean just a quick wipe over and it shines like new

I’ve had gas hobs previously which also respond quickly when turned up or down, but I never found it easy to clean.

I did have to buy a couple of new saucepans but some I already owned were compatible.

My AEG induction hob is probably my favourite kitchen purchase.

My GD having used it is not thrilled, she says it is very slow compared to my gas one.

???? Are you sure she'd not confused an induction hob ( instant heat) with a ceramic hob (slower to heat) They only look identical.

They are wonderful and I wouldn’t have anything different. They are quick, clean, instant and very controllable. I have now lived in three houses and they have been different makes. The only recommendation I would make is make sure it is a good make as they can differ.

Induction hobs are quick, safe and so easy to clean.

I changed from gas after 40 years with some trepidation. It’s just as fast, very easy to clean and takes all pan sizes. Definitely worth it for ease of cleaning alone. I love it. The 3 downsides I found - it’s magnetic so not suitable for someone with a pacemaker, which may not affect your household at all. Secondly, be very careful not to drop anything heavy on the edge as it crumbles and can crack right across. Thirdly, the gas hob provided heat and enabled cooking even during power cuts. We have very few so it’s fine for us but some areas seem to have more.

I had one put in to replace the gas hob in my new home its also AEG its great heats almost instantly its very controllable even turns itself off once a pans removed. So easy to clean and just looks so much better than the awful big gas hob. I wouldnt ever have anything else now.

Mine’s fast and super easy to clean. I love it. Butterandjam is right. Your DD may be confusing it with a ceramic hob which is slow.

They are also safe with children and older people

They are great but one point ... People with pacemakers can generally use induction hobs safely, provided they maintain a distance of at least 60 cm (2 feet) from the active cooking surface and avoid leaning over it. Because opinions and individual medical device models vary, there are mixed views on the practical ease of cooking while keeping that required clearance.

We’re on our second induction hob and neither have been slow. So easy to clean and safe. Most pans are suitable but best to check. Preferences over gobs will vary I know, we’re very pleased with induction. .

I have an induction hob, took some getting used to but am happy with it now. If you change from a gas hob check your pans, not all will work on an induction hob, use a fridge magnet to check, if the magnet sticks to the pan it is ok, if it doesn’t stick you will need a replacement that works with an induction hob.

All the people I know who have them are delighted. I used my sister’s when staying with her and found it very straightforward.

I had one with my new kitchen, last October, honestly I have always had gas, but I love it, just a quick wipe over after use and it's done, the control is as good if not better than Gas, I did buy a new set of pans but they were under £75 on Amazon , another plus in this hot weather the hob doesn't give off any heat when you use it definitely a plus. I have also bought a patterned silicone mat to go on top of the hob when not in use it gives me another bit of work surface in my small kitchen.

Yes after 25 years having a gas hob, last year we had a new kitchen and an induction hob, I thought I would hate it, but its fabulous, easy to use and clean, wish I had changed it years ago.

I moved house last October and now have an induction hob. It's very easy to use and to clean. It heats up at least as quickly as gas and is much safer.
There are five 'rings' on the hob and
it literally took me a few minutes to get used to using the controls.
I did have to buy a selection of pans which are compatible, but that was fun.
I certainly would not have any other type of hob now.

We rented a holiday home with an induction hob and it was amazing so sensitive and controllable. My DD rented a flat with one in and it was awful very slow and underpowered.

My DH did a lot of research online and realised there is a lot of variation.

We removed our gas (bottled) hob and replaced it with the best induction hob we could buy.

I have never regretted it.

Over the years I've cooked on every type of hob, and the only one I'd have again is my current one, an AEG induction hob. It's by far the fastest of them all and the most controllable.
I'm another one wondering if your granddaughter actually has a ceramic hob? They're noticeably slower.

I am now wondering if that particular hob is just not a good one.
I am just back from tea and cake with a neighbour who loves hers and certainly wouldn’t change back.

It is definitely an Induction and not ceramic.

Having cooked on gas for nearly sixty years, I moved into a flat with a ceramic electric hob. Put up with it as I was planning to have that kitchen done eventually. Not impressed and even had the thought of replacing it with gas (as I noticed the pipes were still under that hob area.

Resisted that idea (felt like I was going backwards) and when I had the kitchen done had a proper Induction Hob installed.
It is wonderful. Very, very quick (I did actually burn one saucepan in those early days),much c faster than gas, very, very heat controllable. AND......so very easy to keep really clean and like new.
It is also very safe. Great invention .

When we replaced gas with an induction hob we had to have new wiring to the hob because the standard wiring was not adequate for the hob to function efficiently. The electrical work was more expensive than the hob.
If we had retained the original wiring the hob would not have functioned efficiently for 4 plates.

It was worth it and I would never go back to gas, which pollutes the atmosphere in the house.

We don't have gas, so have no choice - I had a cheap one first (Beko?? can't remember) but it was rubbish, so invested in a much more expensive one, a Neff and it's great.
