In my case Admiral would only reduce by £30 not the £100 less they were quoting online. Their premium for house/contents was £400 and I paid Saga £263.

So many companies (not just insurance) do this. Ring and cancel the policy, look at other insurers. They will call you back and you can ask them to match the best price you found. This works with people like Virgin as well. When I was with them they would put up the price, I would ring and say I was leaving, they would ring me back with a better offer.

Yes checked it out. Came into force 1st January 2022 new and existing customers must be offered the same - on the same website. So it could vary from one comparison website to another but it must be the same within each website.

I thought they had to treat all customers the same, existing and new?

I saved £140 yesterday by changing from admiral to saga.
I had phoned admiral and they reduced the renewal by £30 as ‘i was s loyal customer’which I refused and when I checkrd sites found admiral would charge a new not loyal customer £100 less than their renewal for us,
I know I will have to move on next year because saga will go the same.
They rely on apathy and don’t appreciate loyalty.

Try Policy Expert. I went on a comparison website and they were among the cheapest but what they offered was more than expensive one.Have a look and see, you could save lots.

Same here! I got a great three year deal by limiting my mileage to less than 5,000 miles a year which is no problem at all. I changed my car last year so did have to pay more as it was a lot more expensive than my old one but that is now frozen for another three years.

Has anyone noticed that there has been inflation this year?

If you make a claim, everything covered by the claim from the goods stolen/damaged, to the workmen that come in to effect repairs, plus all their raw materials, their work costs, work insurance, the costs of running the insurance company's offices, heating lighting, wages etc will all have gone up.
Theonly way they can meet those costs is by putting premiums up.

Saga car insurance here, but I’ve just cancelled my policy, as I’m changing cars. I’m downsizing, but Saga quoted £70 more for a car half the size/engine cc etc of my current vehicle, taking the cost to £120 more than a like for like comparison. Only thing Saga could offer was to reduce my level of cover and still got nowhere near. Time to move.

My car insurance has gone up by nearly £100. Same address, lower mileage, no claims. I’m going to use comparison sites to try to get a lower premium, but it’s a lot of faffing about and I always worry that I haven’t put in the correct details.

My energy DD has more than doubled to £392 pm

Had our renewal email last week, it’s gone down by £13, most surprising, so I’ll leave it to auto renew.

Every year I get my renewal letter. Every year it has gone up. Every year I phone, complain, the customer service 'asks their supervisor' and we agree some sort of compromise, with me paying less than they asked for. It is a tedious process.

I would be struck off here if I wrote the words I would use to describe them and I would add car insurers to that list because they are just as bad!

I did. I then called mine back with the info and miraculously they matched it.

Mine’s due in March and despite making no claims, I’m expecting it to go up. I’ll shop around, but really ‘they’ have us over a barrel?
