Problem with eyelet curtains

Haven't tried it but maybe sellotape around the join will help.

I've always found that to be a problem too.

As OP suggested I always put some selotape over the join.

I just flick the curtain up as I pull it, or lift it up slightly.

I have to do a little jump. (Very little)

It's a pain! I have eyelets in every room and there's one bedroom where it sticks every blooming time. I have to jump it over the join too

It is a pain,
and if I get it stuck too many times it starts to loosen the rail bracket on the wall. My DH raises his eyebrows and say I’m heavy-handed.

I’ve tried sellotape but it didn’t work for me. I now have a cane and I use it to lift it over the joint.

Before I resorted to trying that I was repeatedly pulling the curtain off a couple of hooks trying to tug it over.

You can buy curtain wands, these connect to the leading edge of the curtain.
I have traditional mahogany ones but Dunelm now do clear or stainless steel.

Perhaps a litter picker would help you. You can get them on eBay if you don’t want to go out.

I suppose the longer term answer would be if you could buy or adapt a pole to the exact measurement.
Then there would be no need for the join. Hmmm..

I use a stick if I need to, it hides behind the curtain "in case".

Thanks problem solved in so may ways! I think I prefer the cane solution.
It is heartening that the problem is so common that some clever business person is marketing a special tape costing over £7.

Oh dear I’ve missed my opportunity to show off about my solution. I use silicones as in frizzease, or headrin lice lotion ( it has to contain dimeticone). Smear some on the pole. Works a treat.

Oh no, not too late; I have got to paint my ceiling first, before I deal with the poles. It could be some time...

Yes, I do that to the ones in the bedroom, they stick on the metal pole.

The wooden poles have a definite join in the middle so I don't put the curtain hook right at the end, so one curtain overlaps the other at the top iyswim

You can join the two pieces of a wooden pole together with a dowels on the inside to make a smooth join.

Okay Moneypenny not too late at all for silicone stuff to be applied by the tall bubble man on Sunday DV---that is another silicone BTW

I bought silicone tape for my curtain pole. Works like a treat. The rings skim along and it reduces the clatter enormously.

Sellotape and a flick to get it over and it still sticks........

I’ll try the silicone tape now.
