Dishwasher crud!

Sounds like hand washing would be alot quicker, easier , thorough ohh & possibly cheaper ?

Mine does that too. Mashed potato residue left on plates is particularly bad for coating everything in the machine. A quick rinse under the tap for things with "stuff" left on them, before putting them into the dishwasher, has stopped it most of the time, and cleaning the filter helps too. I think some makes are worse than others.

It won't be cheaper to wash up by hand.

Scraping the plates well seems like the way to go.

I don't get dishwasher crud and never have done in any dishwasher ever owned. I use pods and don't use salt or rinse aid ever and very rarely use the cleaner. Then again I ensure the stuff put in isn't covered in crud either which simply involves a quick rinse under the tap. I certainly don't wash them but potato masher wouldn't be full of potato either as it's notorious for clinging to everything.

I've never had any residue left on dishes after washing cycle is finished.
I've never used a dishwasher cleaner either. All I ever do is rinse off anything lumpy on the plates before I load the dishwasher. I use the 3 in 1 tablets.
I'm sorry that I've no answers about the crux on the cups and glasses.

The only time I had the problem was when I tried supermarket tablets the problem cleared up when I went back to my usual 3 in 1 Finish tablets. Maybe that’s your problem?

I stopped using salt and rinse aid as my engineer said the water here is soft so we didn't need it . I never have deposits on my dishes after the cycle

Same here. I use Ecover classic tablets which do not have salt or rinse aid (never used either over the nearly 40 years we have had dishwashers). I do clean food residue off plates though by scraping them into the compost or food waste bucket and don't put cutlery with caked-on food in before soaking it.

You need to rinse plates before putting in dishwasher. I use Aldi tablets no problem. Have softened water so no salt, If you wash glass at too high a temperature they can go cloudy which can’t be rectified. So maybe rinse the plates then wash at low temperature.

Like many posters here, I rinse the worst of the residue off before putting dishes in the dishwasher. To be honest, I never put glasses in the dishwasher now, as they eventually end up with a cloudy appearance which doesn’t come off, (due to tiny scratches, I believe).

We are in a hard water area and had the same as you despite salt and rinse aid. Since starting using F---y platinum everything is sparling. Expensive but worth it.

In my soft water area I don't need rinse aid or salt but am very careful about rinsing. I found tablets didn't fully dissolve in my old machine but my new one copes well. No need for more expensive gel ones but aldi 3in 1 work perfectly. No residue or Vom!

Is there crud in the door seals?

Using a dishwasher is definitely proven to be more economical and more hygienic than washing up in a bowl or sink. (The cruddy deposit is obviously dishwasher clean!) I use Fairy 3 in 1 pouches, always look for the offers in Morrisons and compare unit prices. Our water is middling hard so I fill the salt and rinse aid too. There's never much food residue on our plates. We're northerners! We lick them clean! ? (Joking!!!!)

Same as all above, I have never seen this "dishwasher vom" but I rinse everything before it goes in the machine.
I'm on my third or maybe fourth Bendix and have always found them to be brilliant.
Don't use rinse aid or salt as we have soft water and I've never used a cleaner but always use the highest wash setting.

I scrape but don't rinse plates. Very occasionally I've had the mashed potato crud but just run another cycle.
I only use the daily 35 minute cycle excepting Sunday roast dishes.

Is the salt dispenser set for the correct water hardness? It may be harder than you think. Alternatively, use all in one tablets and see if the problem is still there.
My in-laws had a slimline dishwasher which didn’t wash well. It turned out that they were using too much detergent and salt which isn’t needed in our area.

I use fairy platinum. nothing else. clean dishwasher every so often. never a problem. love my dishwasher.

We had the same problem, it was small bit s of scale and food inside the arms.
My husband flushed out the arms and made the holes slightly bigger so nothing got trapped.
It worked ?

I had the same when I was sent basic Finish Classic from Groupon instead of All-In-One. The grittiness started very quickly, even using salt and rinse aid. I got rid of the second box and am now using Quantum. A bit more expensive but all trace of crud gone without having to add the other stuff.

I see two others have mentioned it, but I’ll do it as well. Fairy Platinum. We don’t need to rinse, or use rinse aid or salt (though we are in a soft water area). I used to buy own brands with variable results, but FP is superb. I just stock up when it’s on a half price offer.

I also use Fairy Platinum but, as we live in an area with very hard water, I also use conditioner.

The various bargain shops often have offers on FP.

Once a month I pour a small bottle of white vinegar into my dishwasher. Run it on highest wash and it keeps the machine clean and dishes sparkling.
