Fraility Score

I am mobile, independent, live on my own. District Nurses visited x2 a week for 6 months. One female was in my house for two minutes, knew I was partially visually impaired and told me I shouldn't be cooking! She was horrified to discover I use an air fryer. If I didn't v=cook There is nobody else. 99& when I go to a hospital, I am asked how many carers I have. The next time I may say one every two hours. I can't walk far but I can walk smartly from a waiting room to a consulting room.

I must check my frailty score as I will be on the doorstep for a care home.I can manage a 3 bedroom house but I doubt a residential home.

It could well be an assessment ‘algorithm’ worked out on known data. Just a guess.

I think most health authorities have adopted this model. It is designed as an aid to decision making and care planning.
I don’t know who decides which level we are on or when. Like many things, it seems generally sensible but I can guess there are some wrong judgements made at times.

I discovered my score in the same way, on Patient Access. It was dated the day I had a flu jab, several years ago. I was not asked any questions at that time so the nurse had no information on which to base the score. I forget the number now, but Google told me that I was almost ready for residential care. I have RA but am in remission and can manage every activity that I need for everyday life, as well as walking up to 10,000 steps a day. I asked for the score to be removed from my record but was told that it is not possible, and that nobody looks at it anyway. On a previous similar thread it was mentioned that the score might be beneficial in the future if care was needed, so I let it drop.

I tackled my surgery about this last year, my GP had no knowledge of it and couldn’t get it removed as I’d requested. It seems to be an automatic figure, not based on an actual physical assessment.

I found this on Patient Access. I normally only use that to order repeat prescriptions, but as I have not been too well recently, I had spare time and looked to see what else was held on that. I had no idea who or when and how this was taken. I always make it very obvious that I live happily by myself and have no assistance whatsoever.

I have heard about this but don’t know what mine is, I must find out.
I have also read that most people are very surprised by their score, feeling it doesn’t portray how they cope and feel.

That is the very first time I have heard of this. I had to look it up.

No, thankfully. I was in hospital for 3 days in March. When I returned home, my GP was sending somebody to check my condition. It was a nurse checking my frailty. I live in a 3 bedroom house but have a cleaner and a fellow to cut the large expanse of grass I have. I have never cut it, too much and lawn mower wouldn't e=reach. Like Franbern I am self-sufficient and I keep Amazon out of administration.

The nurse stayed about 10 minutes and left when I said on sunny day, I would probably paint my fencing and shed. I must look for a frailty score!
