I had it.
No issues.

I'm having this RSV jab in July and have wondered why it is being offered to me. From reading the above posts it's a bit scary now.
I had pneumonia in January and hope it may help a recurrence.

*LtEve*. - a recent warning ‘a potential increased of Guillain Barre Syndrome’ - I have Adthma /Bronchiectasis and I am over 75

The incidence of Guillain-Barré syndrome following RSV vaccination is noted to be up to 9 cases per million vaccinations administered which is a very low risk. Older adults with RSV have a hospitalisation rate of 58.3 per 100,000.
. My advice would be to firstly discuss your concerns with your GP but also, on balance, the risks of further lung damage or even death following RSV is much greater than the risk of a very rare side effect. This is, of course, my personal opinion, albeit based on a quick perusal of the available research.

I contracted RSV 24 years ago from a very poorly baby granddaughter. She recovered well before I did. Now as a 75+ asthmatic I was keen to have the jab. I had no ill effects.

I was offered the RSV injection so read about what it was to achieve, why we were offered it who manufactured it and how it applied to me in my circumstances. We are all individuals, with different medical history and medications may affect us differently. I declined it but make no recomendations for or against it. I suggest you do your own research and/or speak to health care professionals.

I've had mine without any side effects. According to the Pharmaceutical society, it is a very small increased risk of 7 cases per million doses. Statistically you have more chance of dying in a car crash.

Sorry, , ‘increased risk’

I had mine a few weeks ago at the same time as the Covid booster, both in the same arm.
Felt a bit off but the sore arm was the site of the Covid jab.

If you already have lung problems I think you should be first in the queue for this. I had mine with no problems.

LtEve Fri 26-Jun-26 10:04:05

crazyH What specific side effects are you scared about and what is your lung condition? I might be able to dig up some data to reassure you.

My DH was invited as soon as he was 75.

He had it with no side effects

I have been asked to go for an RSV Vaccination. I have read the side-effects and I am scared. I have well-controlled lung problems.
Has anyone here, been invited to have this and did you have it ?
