Recalled for a further appointment after a routine mammogram

It was a benign cyst AuntieE thankfully, but it does shake you up a bit when you get a call back doesn't it?

It's so sad your poor wife had to go through all of that. It does make you realise you should live for the day, you just don't know what's round the corner

I too have been recalled once. It turned out the technician had omitted to note the mole under my right breast and there was nothing wrong at all.

Crossing fingers that something similar is the reason you have been recalled.

I am delighted for you! My (late) wife was diagnosed with LCIS in October 1997 and worked through a long series of treatments over the ensuing twenty eight years and finally succumbed to stage 4 a year ago. Of course it is awful that she died but twenty eight years of mostly feeling well is something a lot of people dream of. She was 78.

The scary thing was, when they took further x-rays, the original area turned out to be a blip in the photography but then they found an "area we're concerned about" and then came the scan. She took quite a while to go over and over it (and I have to say, my heart was going fifty to the dozen then)
She said she thought it was a cyst and aspirated it. Luckily it was just fluid so a biopsy wasn't necessary but she said it had been there some time.
I hadn't felt anything at all in my breast until that day, so it just goes to show how important mammogram appointments are.
I wasn't aware that they stop calling you back at age 70 (I'm in Wales so it might be different elsewhere) but you can ask to have one after that age if you think you have a problem.
Anyway, all's well that ends well, I'm waiting for the results of my bowel screening now happy days!

Sassenach512, that's such a relief for you, you can relax now. You're lucky your cysts weren't painful, especially when having the mammogram done. Mine were painful even when walking, especially if I wasn't wearing a tight and supportive bra. Just make sure you examine yourself regularly, I've had three breast cysts drained over the last few years, and have one at the moment which needs attention.

I was recalled and worried it was a blip where they had pushed boob too tight ( I’m big busted) and they had pressured a vein. Hope all goes well for you

I was called back as I had some calcium deposits in my breast and they just wanted to check them out. Best to try not to worry as I. Most cases it is nothing to worry about x

I was recalled after a mammogram in 2017. It was not pleasant having a biopsy, (and indeed I had to have a second one because the first didn't pick up enough cells) but in the event there was nothing and I have had a mammogram since with nothing noted. So don't worry, it's more likely than not to be a minor non-cancerous anomaly.

They found a cyst which was drained and no further action to take. Apparently it had been there for a while but I never felt a thing.
I floated out the door!
