I took Mounjaro for about 5 months last year ending about this time of year. I lost 3 stones and did everything I was advised to: ate healthy food, exercised and so on. I have stayed the. ONe year on my weight loss has been maintained. I just tried on my post Mounjaro summer clothes and they fit and if anything, they are a little big. I think I got firmer. However, my brain still sees a fat woman in the mirror. I started gaining weight at around 6 or 7 for complicated family reasons. The last year of having a BMI in the normal range has been very strange. Not being told to lose weight every time I saw a health professional has been a revaluation. So why do I still feel like the fat girl in a baggy dress sitting in the corner at the disco?

To those of you who have used these jabs, are you in the UK? How essy was it to persuade your Doctor to let you try them? I’m 4/5 stone overweight and would like to try but a bit scared of asking . Do you have to be diabetic to get to use them?

I’m so envious when I hear of people lose weight on these injections,I was prescribed ozempic for type 2 diabetes before it became the famous weight loss drug and the diabetic nurse told me one of the possible side effects was weight loss, I was so pleased as I had four stone to lose.
About a month after that I saw all these celebrities who had lost weight on it but I hadn’t even though I had very little appetite and was eating tiny meals, it was increased but still no weight loss, and because it was keeping my glucose levels stable the health professionals wasn’t concerned, I eventually asked to go on mounjaro instead and that is worse as even though I haven’t suffered from any adverse side effects from either drug the mounjaro hasn’t suppressed my appetite at all.
I’m thinking maybe because I can’t exercise due to pain and limited mobility that as I suffer from several diagnosed muscular skeletal problems this could be the reason I haven’t lost weight, I’m seeing the diabetic nurse next week so maybe she can shed some light on it.
Well done to all of you that has lost weight on these medications I would be interested to know if you did much exercise for your weight loss.

'Lesley60', I have extremely limited mobility, and have to spend most of my time in bed. I have been overweight, since childhood, and was convinced that I would never be able to lose weight after gaining more, and more, over the years since becoming disabled, because I can't do any form of exercise. I haven't tried the weight loss drugs, but tried something that was totally new to me - it's called 'Slimpod', and is all about changing your mind set, which helps stop the food noise, etc. I've been doing it for about 6 months now, and have lost one and a half stone. They offer a FREE 10 day trial, and then if you decide to continue, it costs £49 a month for 3 months, this is a one-time fee for lifetime access to the program, which focuses on retraining the brain to manage weight without dieting. There are no ongoing weekly fees, special foods, or pills required. All you need to do is listen to a short podcast every night just before you go to sleep, although you can listen at any point in the day that suits. I honestly don't know how it works, but it certainly has for me. If you're interested, you can find details here - slimpod.com

I never went above 5mg. As I said above I think it worked by making me feel like I was in the first trimester of pregnancy. It also turned me right off alcohol. That odd glass of wine in the evening was off the table.

I think it's called body dysmorphia. I've heard this from people suffering with anorexia. What you see in the mirror is very different to what you are really like. It annoys me that people aren't given psychological support along with weight loss drugs. It's a big deal and life changing taking these drugs. So I think at least some CBT should be offered at the very least. Or maybe start a local support group.with others going through the same feelings.

@Lesley60 I started on 2.5mg and stayed on that for 4 months, then 5mg for 5 months (which I am still on) but about to start 7.5mg next week

57VRS...I'm in the UK...I take High blood pressure medication and have a BMI of 27. Because of this I was able to get a private prescription from an in-line pharmacy. I don't think I would have been able to get it on the NHS. I've been on 2.5mg the lowest dose for a month and I've lost a stone in weight. I'm feeling good with in myself to be honest and my blood pressure has dropped slightly too. So it's worked for me.

@57VRS my Dr surgery sent out a message saying unless we contact you to let you know you are eligible, do not ask for the jabs! obviously they have been inundated with requests! my BMI was 47 , numerous health conditions, mainly immobile in wheelchair, and heart condition, and I did not qualify, I have lost 4 stone and now my BMI is 38 so it is coming down

Hi all. I have had my month of mounjaro doses loitering in the fridge for months. I'm scared to try it. I'm worried there might be side effects and that I'll inadvertently inject myself with an air bubble and die! With over a year of ongoing serious family problems to cope with, I am trying to minimize health issues caused by my overweight. I need to be strong. Is it difficult to inject it and get going? The GP refuses to give me any advice.

My daughter has had a phobia about needles since she was a child and she has managed it. It is frightening to start with but once you do it once, realise how painless it is, you soon don't even give it a second thought.

If you were injecting straight into the vein, you'd have a slim chance of killing yourself with an air bubble but you don't do that with mounjaro. You do it into the stomach and I don't think I have ever even seen a drop of blood after injecting.

Please don't cripple your health with unfounded worries. Try to imagine what it will be like feeling healthier with the weight loss.

Hi Rowantree I am not on Mountjaro but I do inject myself weekly with Methotrexate for my Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I Imagine that the syringes I use for that and the ones for Mountjaro are very similar.
You inject into the flesh or fat, not into a vein, so there is no chance of killing yourself with an air bubble. I squeeze up a fold of tummy or thigh with the fingers of one hand and then you just press the end of the syringe into that with the other, the device clicks, twice in my case, leave it a minute and that's it!
Occasionally, as I am on blood thinners, there is a tiny drop of blood but mostly not. It's quick and easy so do have a go. All the best!
