Glaucoma laser surgery

Drops and laser surgery failed to bring down the pressure in one of my eyes. I had surgery, a trabeculectomy, which did the trick. It was done as a day case and was quite straightforward.

DH also had a trabeculectomy, his pressure is now in low single figures.

I had a similar experience, laser didn't work for me either. Stronger drops made all the difference. Don't lose hope; there are still options to explore.

I have glaucoma and following an in depth eye test , I’ve been told I cannot drive any more. It is a shock and I believe I’m a good, safe driver.,. I am appealing the decision and having an independent eye test next week.

Has anyone been in this situation and how did you cope. ?

I had to give up driving some time ago due to a glaucoma crisis in both eyes. Fortunately I live on the edge of a town so taxi fares don’t mount up that much. It’s inconvenient at times but less stressful and financially I’m better off.

I’m glad you cope ok.
I’m lucky too, living near a station and bus routes.
Just a matter of getting used to the idea of not jumping into the car at a minutes notice.
I will use cabs too.
