Pneumococcal vaccine

No problems with mine.

I have the flu vaccine every year without any problems. I had some side effects with the shingles jag. Sore arm with spreading redness for a couple of days

I had a headache and felt tired for about 48 hrs. A small price to pay for significantly increased protection from shingles and pneumonia . Shingles is extremely painful and debilitating and its effects can last for many weeks. Pneumonia could result in a hospital admission and can leave a person weakened for months.

So weighing it all up I think it’s worth a couple of days of vaccine after effects .

I dare say there will be a couple of anti vaxxers along shortly to say otherwise 😊

Had them 10 years ago never a problem not anything, but then I never have had a problem with any of the jabs.

I had it without any problems. Totally agree with Grannynannywany that even if you have after effects it’s a price worth paying for the protection.

No problem with that vaccination or any of the flu or COVID ones. The shingles one led to a red sore patch on my arm. First time that's ever happened.

My husband had no ill effects.

No effects from the pneumo jag. I had a sore arm from the shingles jab recently but it didn’t stop me from going about my normal business. I’d rather that than have shingles!

Had the pneumonia jab 9 years ago it lasts 10 years so will have to ask about it again next year.

I was invited for the shingles but have had it twice so decided not to. Never had a problem with the pneumonia or flu jabs no reactions. When I was having the Covid ones felt unwell and very sore arm, not invited this year as am under 75.

Had both as well as annual flu jabs, never had a problem.

We've had both, with no side effects.

The only time I've ever been unwell after a jab, was when our local vaccination centre offered the "convenience" of two jabs at the same appointment, covid in one arm and flu in the other. Husband does this with no ill effects. I did it once and felt to rotten, never again; ever since that I have them done a week apart (no problems at all).

The vaccination centre we attend tells me a lot of older patients now do the same as me and for the same reason.

CindyLou I had both injections together one in one arm one in the other absolutely no problem I wouldn’t bother with separate visits personal

TwiceAsNice: I’ve had Shingles twice, aged 19 and 64 but I was still strongly advised to be vaccinated when I was 70 so I heeded the advice without ill effects. No problem with after effects from the pneumococcal vaccine either which I was given at 65.

Didn't have any problems with both as such but I did 'take' a few days off and just rested at home with paracetamol. After 48 hours I felt fine but it is always worth just chilling a bit after.

I was told that too Calendargirl, that it was a one off.

I had just about every jab going and apart from a bit of soreness and bruising and feeling a bit crap for about 24 hours I have had no adverse reactions. I've had the herpes zoster one and the RSV and many others including several Covid jabs.

I think it used to be one jab and now it’s two
No problems with jabs but a bit rough after the RSV and last Covid. Perhaps I’ve had enough

Three days unwell is nothing like the real flu. I am an old lady and therefore contracted the real flu several times. You are so ill you can’t walk across a room and you are ill for weeks.

This is very true. It used to be said that you know you have 'flu, when you see a £20 note (would now need to be much higher), flutter past you window, but are not able to go into the garden to collect it.
With 'flue it is not the matter of being unwell for two or three days, can be up to a fortnight, when even turning over in bed becomes difficult, and a trip to the bathroom a major excursion.
People so often say they have 'flu, when they really just have a heavy cold. No-one with 'flu can actually get up and dressed and go anywhere.
Twice I had this, one time when i was pregnant with twins and had three other small children, hubbie was in hospital. I am so grateful to my sister-in-law who came over to look after me and the children. Another time, living by myself, I can remember managing to phone my son, who lived nearby, to come over just to close the curtains in my bedroom for me.
So very grateful for this annual vaccination which has protected me against this now for many years, as I am for all the other protective vaccines I receive.
