Type 2 Diabetes

I am the same age and got told off by my diabetic nurse for my reading being too low . She said they should be above 10 for people of my age . Nobody had advised me of that . I only get drained of energy if my blood glucose gets too low ( below 5 ) and I really feel horrible so that might be the cause of his tiredness . A bit of advice from the surgery is needed I think for your DH.

I am also T2. Metformin is effective but notorious for causing diarrhoea. I found changing to the slow release format eased the problem slightly, so maybe discuss that with your surgery’s pharmacist.
Floradora9. Nobody has ever told me about 10 being the level to aim for. I am regularly berated for it not being around 6, which I find hard to manage. My annual review is due soon so I will certainly raise that. Thank you.

My husband has type 2. He came off Metformin as he couldn't stand having to be near a toilet the whole time. He is on another medication now and his diabetes is well controlled.

I’m T2. Around 10 sounds high to me, not heard that before. Best to discuss with a professional. Everyone reacts differently to various foods and meds.

He's seeing his Diabetic Nurse on Tuesday so he'll have to mention this problem to her, maybe she will change his medication.

This is a well known side effect of Metformin until the body get used to it. I am on slow release as a few years ago I had an unexpected spike and the change has kept my diabetes the best it’s ever been for the last three years. Tall to the GP about tweaking the dosage
