HVDY That home does not sound good at all. What are they thinking of with the bad ventilation while having someone with covid. Glad you managed to get them to do something about it. Your poor son. My sons used to get eczema in crooks of knees and elbows and the itcjing drove them mad and was impossible to stop them scratching. They both seem to have grown out of it.
Nadateturbe Thankyou for your kind words. Yes, Annie used to say' the past is a different country'or something like that. Hope youve been ok today. My DH has pfoblems with high BP so is on 2 different tablets which helps. Hope your DH can get it sorted. It must be hard having your son live far away. I dont think, generally, sons get in touch as much as daughters. I have missed out a lot of my GD' growing up last few yrs. Just haven't been a able to risk going in case of unpredictable pain. I'm sure you will feel the same with your ME/CFS.

ScaredycatYes it was nice to see GS. I couldn't play our usual ball game(knee) which he seemed disappointed with but he loves drawing which we both did. He laughs at my terrible sketches but was beaming when my DH (who hes v impressed with his painting) praised him and noted how much detail he was putting in with his pictures. Hope youve been alright today. It must be so nice to see your daughter often.
Candy Hope you are coping with your busy days and work schedule. Yes Ive been taking ADs for about a month and have noticed a real difference so I'm glad I started taking them(though there is a side effect which I'm hoping will disappear).
Doodle I'm glad you have felt less worried about the issue. I too am still knitting and would love to see your finished veggies. Hope your wrist isnt too much of a nuisance. Also that you not any worse with that cold you are getting.

Couldnt go to book group today as knee much worse and swollen so cant use car clutch and walking v difficult. Been trying to take over DHs driving because of his pain in arms and foot and its made my knee worse. Couldnt have him doing 4 car journeys to take me and pick me up ( he generously offered) which was caring/kind but completely out of the question.He had to get up at 2 this morning as he couldnt lie on his arms/shoulders for the pain and slept rest of night upright in chair. I'm really worried about my mobility as I need to look after us. I expect hes the same. What a situation.

Yes things have got better thanks. I never stop worrying. I’m not too bad but DH feels he might be getting some cold symptoms now.
Sweetpeasue so lovely you have a good bond with your DGS. I used to love doing things with mine too. Glad you feel the ADs are starting to help. That is good news. Hopefully the side effects will wear off. Sorry your DH is still having so much pain. Difficult for you both with the driving. Do you have ice packs or heat treatment for your knee? How about some surgical support. My son had one of those leg support things when he tore his ligaments. Shame about book group but can understand about the driving. You are both looking out for each other.
Scaredycat I think my veggies will end up being one veg. I have done the pumpkin one. Someone else will have to do the others. I struggled with my broken wrist and it aches with the knitting . I might get one other done but I’ve got to let it recover first.
I will add a picture for all those kind enough to ask.
Hope the new meds help your DH and he gets the ultrasound soon. Is he feeling Ok? So many poorly DHs on this thread.
Nice your DD is close by. Must be hard for families who live a long way apart.

Pumpkin pie anyone?

Doodle Thats so good right colour and everything. Yes to Pumpkin Pie, as long as it comes with custard.
Itmust be awful for you to have the wheezing. Hope its not worse when you lie down. I'm using a circular bandage though keep having to take it off as it cuts into flesh(Ive really podgy knees). Have used a warmed up rice bag thing that you heat in microwave. Such a shame your wrist is stopping you knitting but you do right to give it a rest from it.

HVDY your sons condition sounds do hard for him to cope with. My psoriasis was really severe years ago and I felt horrible with ugly patches everywhere so I really empathise. I hope they're still researching treatment for this condition.
From what you have said in posts I don't think going home sounds like a good option for your SiL. I wonder what your brother thinks. Just read- can't believe they didn't show up. What a place!

You're right, we never stop being mothers, no matter what age they are. If they're not happy, we're not. But it's sad not living close. Extended families are not as common as they used to be.

Scaredycat I hope your husband is OK. And you don't wait too long for the ultrasound, although as you say it could be a while. The NHS is really at crisis point I feel.

Husband still sleeping on and off all day. New BP meds and blood tests done. I'm so tired and yet can't sleep well last 3 nights. . Very strange. You'd think if you're extra tired you would sleep better.

It sounds like we have the same kind of problem with visiting. It's difficult when you don't know how you will feel, or know you will be in too much pain to do/enjoy it.
Your knee sounds very bad, can they not do anything for it? Its worrying when you have to look after your husband. He is in such pain. Does he have strong painkillers? I hope he sees the rheumatologist soon.
I'm sure the worry is stressing you too. Getting to book club would have been good, a little company. I haven't been able to get to art and miss the chat. At least you have your knitting and sketching to occupy you. Didn't realise you sketch.

For those who wonder about Anniebach she pops up on different threads since she stopped posting on here.

I don't think the dark morning and nights drawing in help anyone with mental or physical health problems. I always find my breathing gets worse at night at times it's something to do with air pressure.

Doodle that might be making you more wheezy. Love your pumpkin. The picture is one my sister in law did. She needle felts and crochets she has MS.

I find my limbs hurt more as the weather changes and makes them harder to move but from what I am learning it's typical for HPX.

I know my aunt who had rheumatoid arthritis she got worse in the colder weather.

My nephew who has mental health problems the darker nights effect his sleeping . He doesn't sleep very well normally but is worse in autumn and winter.

So much is happening in your lives sorry can't reply to everyone by name . But your fighting spirit shines through even if you don't think so.

I went to the day centre, which was good. SIL has now got Covid (selfishly, I hope I don't get it - I sat next to her for 3 hours on Tuesday and didn't wear a mask, and I kissed her when I left).

SweetPeaSue- it’s so good to draw with children - no wonder your GS enjoys it. He will learn a lot from your DH too. My Mum used to draw with us and both my sister and I have enjoyed Art ever since. I drew with my GC and now watch their children draw and paint. What does he like to draw?

It’s such a shame that you have the knee pain too- could you use Volterol Gel? Your poor DH- so much discomfort for you both. You do seem such a great partnership though, both caring so much for the other.
HVDY- how dreadful they didn’t turn up for the home assessment- the level of care is terrible. The new prescription should do the trick with Prob 1 but the other problem I can’t really elaborate on here.

Poor SIL Covid on top of everything Else. Do hope you don’t get it- last week we spent all day with my daughter including Birthday hugs and kisses and 2 days later she tested positive- and so far we are ok so hopefully you will be too.

Nadateturbe- sometimes I think you can be overtired and your head must be full of concern for your DH.
That saying’ we are only as happy as our unhappiest child’ is so true isn’t it.
It,ll do you good when you can get back to your Class - drawing or painting together is so enjoyable. Do you draw at home?

I have noticed that now it is a bit cooler that the constant AF seems to be not so tiring for walking.

Scaredycat How wonderful that your mum could draw with you as children. I can't draw and I think that's what gives him confidence as my efforts are no different ftom his.You ask what he likes to draw. Halloween was mentioned the other day so I (tried) to draw a witch on a broomstick, while he drew a 'mummy' bandaged up. with a knife(he called machete) and a figure with lots of blood all over! 😩 That got me worried. Hope your DHs scan wont take long. Its so concerning the long waits now.
Nadateturbe I think I used the term sketch inappropriately. I can't draw for toffee. Just meant I sit and draw with him. DH's the painter/drawer. Hope you're feeling less fed up today, though not surprising when you are both unwell. It can really bring you down. Hope your DH is a little better. Regarding my knee, Ive been put on musculoskeletal waiting list though letter said if got worse should inform GP. We both cant do any beach walks now and I worry that if we wait 6mths our mobility /muscles will be badly affected. Calling GP tomorrow(theyll be sick of me)
Whiff I had a nightmare this morning but not because of the very good quilt in your photo, so not to worry. It is very good indeed and your SIL with MS should be v pleased with it. Not sure, even as an adult, Id get to sleep under it though. 😳. You say such nice things about this thread thankyou. Hope you will get that PIP soon now its been rightfully awarded after all this time.

Not a good day today. Started with bladder pain for few hrs. Had to get out 4 walls so DH drove 10 min journey and really struggled, esp return back. Letter to him in post with the usual format letter of booking appt - though no 'urgent' wording on it. Receptionist said yes GP requested urgent appt so they probs missed word off. DH called but was told earliest appt next February! He can't poss go that long with his pain and because he has pain lifting his arms he would have sevefe muscle wastage in 6 mths. Either the GP (one we've never seen) mislead us mistakenly or something else has gone wrong. Hes calling GP tomorrow. I was so shaken by the letter I had to take Diazapam with panic attack. I was told by Urologist a while ago that a private appt with Pain management consultant would ne wasted time as a one off consultation wouldnt achieve much in my case. I can see private appts coming up as I will lose mobility if my knee stays as it is. I have to drag it some of the time. I remember Annie telling us to keep walking. We all need to keep mobile.

Sweetpeasue have you had advice about that circular bandage? I only ask as when DH cut his leg he had a dressing put on it with a bandage round the calf. When I took him to our nurse practitioner last week she said the bandage was probably causing the swelling in his leg and that bandages shouldn’t be applied to part of a leg as they have a tourniquet effect and cause swelling. Would one of those padded knee braces be better? I love custard but would want mine with crumble not pumpkin pie…especially a knitted one. How have things been today?
Scaredycat there seems to be a lot of Covid around at the moment. I’ve still got a tickly throat but feel better today. Hope you don’t pick up anything from your DDs family.
I loved drawing with my DGC too but in my case they were much better at it than me. It’s good in a way your DH isn’t a worrier. I think one worrier in a family is enough. It helps keep us more stable. Hope whatever his problem is it is resolved ok. No never made pumpkin pie. I don’t actually like soft fleshed things like squash. Mind you I shouldn’t really say I don’t like it having never tried it. That saying I think is so true if one of my children or their families have a problem it always gets to me.

Hello Whiff nice to hear from you. Yes I’m pleased Annie is still on GN. We all miss her on BD. Lovely pumpkin. I’ve seen lots of needle felt things but can’t actually work out how it’s done. It looks very difficult. Must be hard for your nephew. So many with MH issues find sleep a problem. I think the dark nights and mornings are depressing. I thought the hoodie blanket was great. 😊
nadateturbe thank you. I’m feeling a bit better today. Decided to give the bathroom a good seeing too. Made the mistake of getting down to clean the shower floor and then couldn’t get up again. Had to crawl across to the toilet to haul myself up. I was thinking of buying one of those garden kneelers to use in the house as a seat for working low down.
Sorry you’re missing your art class. How often does it run? What sort of things do you like drawing/painting?
Hope the blood tests shed some light on your DHs issues. Maybe you are overtired and that’s why you can’t sleep. It’s easy to get into a pattern of not sleeping. Have you anything you could take to help you sleep? Night nurse or something.

Sweetpeasue crossed posts again. I don’t know (nor am I asking) you financial circumstances but it’s worth checking how much a private appointment would be with the pain clinic. Dh and I went privately for a couple of neurology appointments when DH had a serious issue. We had to search around a bit but found one place where we paid £250 for an initial appointment and subsequent ones £125. Not cheap but worth it to get some help. Not more problems with your surgery 😡 You certainly need to get back to the GP and make sure they get that urgent referral reinstated. Sorry about the pain this morning. Hope you both have a better night.

Doodle Think we crossed posts. Second thoughts-hold the custard. Yuk. The circular bandage was one I got from chemist and is quite stretchable. I did try a knee brace (dont think it was padded though) and that seemed to cut in too. I'll ask about padded ones. I have problem getting up from floor too. When I took DHs socks n shoes off for GP and student last Monday I could hardly get up and had to haul up with chair. So embarrassing.

Doodle Yes, private appts will unfortunately be more likely for many these days. We are ready to go private with Rheumatologist for DH and also for my knee. Money is no good if we dont have quality of life and we own a v modest semi. Things can v quickly go downhill when you cant get about.

Doodle Do be careful. I struggle to get up without holding onto something. It was sausages, mash and cabbage, then lemon cheesecake and ice cream . You don't need to diet, it's coming up to winter, so we all need more calories

My SIL had another fall this evening (and one last night, apparently), so she's in A&E awaiting x-rays. Last time, she was on a hospital trolley for 27 hours. 5 falls in 5 weeks now .
