Sorry Redhead56 but I had to smile when you said you lost your nerve!

I’ve had a number of root canal treatments and the pain and discomfort has usually settled within a day or two. I do remember though that one tooth was still very painful after a week and when the dentist x-rayed it again, he found I had 3 nerves in that tooth rather than the usual two. After he removed the rogue nerve, the dreadful pain went away, thank goodness.

I have also had perfectly successful root canal work done with no pain once complete other than minor bruising for a day or two maybe.

I had one three years ago it was unpleasant because the dentist left broken bit of drill in my gum. He actually showed me an X-ray of it but could not get it out. I know I could have made complaints but I was in the dentists chair so long it was ridiculous. My gum above the tooth has been sensitive ever since. I am not proud but have not been to see a dentist since I know I should but lost my nerve.
I hope you get yours sorted out and are then pain free I am trying to pluck up courage to finally go to a new dentist.

I’ve had a few root canals done over the years and once the nerve was out the pain went. Yours doesn’t sound as if all is well. Normally for me it is just the time it takes rather than the discomfort. I’ve had a couple of implants also and again it is the time in the chair which is the worst part. I really hope you get some relief soon as dental pain is the worst. Best wishes.

Goodness. no, you should not be in pain at all once the initial bruising (if any) goes.
Definitely go back to the dentist or the endodontist for advice - would they really charge you for looking at their own work to ensure all's well?

I've had three different lots done Tuppence15 and never had any problems at all. It certainly didn't take three weeks or more to recover, just a couple of days.
I would be inclined to ask for another opinion if you are still in pain.
I paid 1,000 euros but that included crowns. My French dentist is exceptional I think, he has never caused me pain and is very patient with my nervousness.
