help! My massages are making me feel ill

I've had 2 recently for a bad back, I think it's helping my back but I feel so weird after. Dizzy to the point of not being able to walk properly for at least half an hour after. Disorientation and ligh headedness continues and then a massive headache, so bad I had to go to bed when I got in. Next day generalised muscle aches which I expect and know is normal but still feeling a bit headachey.
I really want to continue with them for the benefits to my back pain, but is this normal?
My blood pressure isn't high, and I know it can actually make your blood pressure low, but the masseur said it's unusual for these symptoms to last longer than a few minutes after...

Which “toxins” are released by massage, via the lymphatic system Mh0608?
I have searched out any scientific evidence for this and can’t find any.

Farzanah: I think you're correct to question the idea of "toxins"! It's too simplistic a term. Unfortunately it's often used in complementary/holistic therapy with no scientific basis.
I have a biology degree and my understanding is that the liver, kidneys and lungs are the primary organs dealing with with excretion and detoxification of harmful materials; followed up by the skin and the digestive system (eg vomiting and/or egestion of (harmful) ingested substances).
And don't get me started on colonic irrigation.....

After being involved in a car crash on the outside lane of the M25 I had a very painful back for about 3 years. The car was written off and there were times I almost wished I had been too!
I thought it would ease on it's own (with anti-inflammatories/painkillers from my GP) but it didn't, so, having persevered for long enough, I started trying to find an alternative answer - osteopathy, physiotherapy, massage etc. In the end, the turning point came after having acupuncture (NHS acupuncturist)! I felt a difference after the 3rd session and eventually recovered completely and have not looked back. You could give it a try.
