My son has tested positive too. He became ill Friday, did a PCR Saturday and got a positive result last night. He'd had one Pfizer vaccine 2 weeks ago. He had a very bad cold, runny nose, dry cough, felt a bit hot and had a bad back. I thought he had hayfever tbh but as he'd returned from university the day before he became ill, I made him test. We are now waiting for PCR tests for the rest of us <sigh>

LOADS of my friends kids have tested positive in the few days too

My brother and his wife are fine, thanks. No symptoms. They've both had the vaccines, and neither of them has been out anywhere since Monday of last week - he's got problems with his "good" leg, his wife has been quite challenging with her behaviour.

Do you have an oximeter to check your oxygen level and a thermometer? I think you might be able to have such things sent out to you? You can then keep a check on how you are and inform the health authorities if you feel your condition is deteriorating in any way. Obviously keep well hydrated. There are some things I’d do that I’ve seen on utube that I’d do if I caught covid but they’re a bit left field. Do you live alone? If so perhaps you could update this thread every day so we know you’re ok.

I’m sorry to hear you have Covid. My DD2 has a bad dose currently and is very poorly as was my DH in February. You have all my sympathy. DH doesn’t know how he caught it either.

My brother and sister in law had it and were very ill for 6 weeks. They caught it before they where eligible for the vaccine. My brother felt so ill one night he dictated his will on his phone. They both felt like they where covered in bruises but not a mark on them. Both had loss of taste and smell, and found it hard to breathe . Both have serious health problems but luckily stayed at home. They are both double jabbed.

My daughter,son in law and both grandsons had it. The boys had fevers for a couple of days. My daughter and son in law had loss of taste and smell and she had a cough. Both have since been vaccinated. I was with them for hours the week before they where diagnosed and didn't catch it.

I had been doubled jabbed. But won't stop wearing my mask on buses and in shops plus the other precautions.

Covid like flu is here to stay.

I suspect that I might have had it a couple of weeks ago. Double vaccinated, cough, sneezing, sore throat, lost my voice, generally feeling ghastly and glands swollen. Did a couple of LFTs but both negative. So really not sure. My theory to sorting any illness is to try to “blast” it out of my system with strenuous exercise. And it always seems to work. Probably not the answer for everyone but for me it does.

My DB and sil have it now, as well as their DD (19) They’ve both been quite ill and DB had to get antibiotics as it was in his chest. ALL double vaccinated (Astra). Their DS (not vaccinated 16) escaped it and has been camping out in the shed for a week. They’ve been careful throughout but young ones are out working PT jobs and 1 had been in a pub the previous week. I’ll continue being really careful knowing how they’ve been feeling! Thank goodness masks are still mandatory in Scotland. Hope you feel better soon x

How can the track and trace person know you caught it from a vaccinated person?
I am alarmed at the number of double vaccinated people who are catching it. Have they all been over two weeks after the second jab?
Also people showing a negative lateral flow test when in fact they were positive. I had 2 AZ jabs (second one in April) but feel more anxious now than ever.

Me and dh had our second vaccines third week in May, so I'll let you know...

I honestly the kids going to school/college/uni has been an experiment on those of us who are parents (or teachers) in their 30s/40s/50s as we were bound to catch it off our children if it was spreading in education settings

I have no expectation that the vaccine will stop me getting Covid. What I do hope is it will most likely prevent serious illness.

I think I had it last April when testing was only done if you were hospitalised. I took to my bed away from my OH and got over it in 4 days. He didn’t catch it.
You may be feeling rotten OP but most people get over it OK.
Such a pity you didn’t have the vaccine.

Can I just point out that covid can affect the heart, lungs and brain and that doing strenuous exercise to combat it is a pretty dangerous thing to do. Some of us aren’t as superhuman as you appear to be.

MayBee70 I live with my husband, he's off work, isolating with me (it was a week's holiday but of course, we haven't been able to go anywhere. I haven't been breathless, thankfully.

My symptoms:
feeling very hot but shivering
no appetite ( I had a couple of spoonsful of porridge yesterday) but I'm drinking lots.
feeling "off balance" so staggering and stumbling about
no sense of smell- I can't smell lemon, onion, bleach, air freshener, cat food
feeling very weak
a dry cough
sore throat

I've never felt so bad

rubysong I was told that as I hadn't seen anyone except my brother, his wife and her 2 sisters on Monday of last week-all vaccinated

Esspee I started being unwell last Saturday, and as for not having the vaccine - the track and trace person reckons I've probably caught it from a vaccinated person
