Does your pet sleep with you??

Some 15 years ago I used to sleep with my dog, but I had to stop it as we were disturbing each other.

Ever since my dogs have slept happily in their own beds. Then when my beloved Solei reached the age of about 14 he wasn't settling as well, and somehow managed to worm his way back into my bed! We slept together until I lost him a few months ago, age 16.

So I'm back to sleeping alone, which is probably better - though I'm not sure I could sleep any more badly! - but I am fully prepared that my current dog may well end up in my bed in his dotage

I have 3 Pugs, 2 sleep on the bed but 1 sleeps in his crate in the bedroom. I've tried him on the bed a few times but he's too fidgety, he just can't sit still. Yet in his crate he settles down immediately.

Our six year old Fieldspaniel has a bed on the landing and we keep the bedroom door slightly ajar so that he can come in during the night. He is allowed to come on the bed at 6am but I get nudged from about 5 30 asking to jump on

No he sleeps in his basket in the kitchen, he will occasionally come into my bedroom to find me if I sleep in - he seems to know the time, but he is a big boy and would not like to share a bed with him (he also snores which I can hear from my bedroom on occasions)

We have 4 cats who are allowed in the bedroom and to sleep on our bed all day, but at about 8pm every night when we usually settle down in front of the telly, they are sent out of the bedroom and the duvet covers are given a thorough brush down. We would get no sleep if we allowed them in overnight - they like to chase each other, wrestle, and climb all over the furniture.

I no longer have a dog, but when we did he stayed downstairs.
Am sure given the chance all pets would be on the bed and gradually take up more and more space - wouldn't help me sleep

We have 3 cats and 1 dog - 2 of the cats sleep in the bed which worked fine up till a few month ago. Now the smallest cat decided that she has to sleep wedged up tightly against you making it impossible to turn around. Several times at night she walks over you waking you.
Saying that, I usually have to get up at night several times anyway to go to the bathroom (health reasons) so it's not a big deal for me. Husband can get annoyed but then she is his favourite little cat.
We have tried to shut her out but then she sits at the door continously scratching at the door which can drive you crazy. House is not big enough so no matter which room we would close we would still hear her scratching.
So we put up with it and hope she starts going back to sleeping at the bottom of the bed peacefully. She is a very hyper cat during the day too.
We love them all so much, we put up with a lot, we are well trained by them.

we had a german shepherd, and if I left the bed to visit toilet in the night, I would return to find she had taken my place next to hubby, with her paw draped over him, as if to say 'mine'! If I tried to get in bed she would growl at me, if I climbed in, with her in the middle she would put her back against his back and push me off the bed, so usually I had to wake hubby up to tell her to get off! cheeky mare! LOL!

I would happily have the cat on top of the eiderdown, but DH dislikes the thought, so no, the cat sleeps downstairs.

He sneaks up for a morning cuddle after DH has got up, though.

We have recently moved house with our 13 yr old cat and she was not happy about that at all! Had a week of continuous meowing all night so let her sleep on the bed for reassurance......now she waits for me at 10pm to go to bed lol. She does sleep well though and I like it now

Absolutely. Wouldn't have it any other way. He's just sooooo adorable....

I don't have a dog, but simply adore my 'grand-dog', . my daughter's cocker poo. She is allowed to sleep on the bed, and I love it when she spends the night with me when they come to visit. She is unbelievably snuggly and I miss seeing her as much as I do my children/grandchildren! I am longing for the dog (and my daughter obviously!) to be allowed to come and stay again! I grew up with dogs, and they always used to sneak into the bed when my mother wasn't looking. Not sure I'd fancy sharing the bed with any other animal though (surely not a fish or tortoise?!!!)

My new cat sleeps on the end of my bed most nights - only problem is that he likes to attack my feet before he goes to sleep (a habit I think he was allowed by his previous owner). He is learning no to though!
Unfortunately, after many years of getting up at 5.30am to go to work, I still wake up at that time and often get up to have a cuppa. Unfortunately, on the odd occasion that I do sleep beyond that time, he thinks that 5.30 is get up time every day so I'm woken by a loud purring and not being able to breath when he sits or lays on my ribs! One way of waking me up!!

No pets on the bed, it’s unhygienic.
Occasionally my cat breaks into my bedroom but he silently lies on the carpet at the foot of the bed.

No pets now but little cat used to sleep on my stomach inside the bed (I sleep on my back). Little dog slept by my side on top the covers. I sleep in a single bed so it always amused me to say to beaux at the end of an evening "sorry, you have to go now. My bed is fully occupied!

Yes my Yorkshire terrier snuggles up close and it is so lovely. I make sure the bed is changed regularly but he is showered so much no worries really! Gives you a close bond.

Yes our two little dogs sleep with us. They’re like hot water bottles in the winter!

I have mellowed as I age and whereas once my animals weren’t even allowed in the bedroom, this last little four legs does come onto my bed once I’ve settled down with a book. She has her own big blanket on top of my bedding ... and she stretches out along the side of one leg, snoozing peacefully until I switch my light out, at which point she returns to her own bed in the lounge till I get up and open the curtains and blinds and take her into the garden. It’s quite nice to have a warm presence snuggling up for a little while at bedtime, I have to say. She’s a very clean little thing and her bedding is always washed weekly, so despite my years of disapproval, I’m quite happy to allow her to share my bedroom ritual. Here she is ...her name is Yoko. ❤️

Absolutely not!!

Our small dog sleeps by the bed in a pet bed but sometimes jumps on our bed in the morning. She slept on the bed for a while as a puppy so we could immediately tell if she woke up and wanted to go out - it worked as husband is very light sleeper!

Yes. Our medium size dog starts the night on our bed, then gets into her basket by the bed. She jumps back on the bed early in the morning and likes to laze about before breakfast! Doesn’t disturb our sleep too much except when she stretches out and takes up a lot of space for a not very large dog!

Yep Oscar my cat creeps in when he thinks I am asleep and curls up at the bottom of the bed. He just likes my company.

I’m sure my tortoise would, but he’s not getting the opportunity!

Not currently, however my younger dog is terribly needy and I’d fear for him when/should he become a single pet. The upstairs may well become opened up at nighttime for him.
