Would very highly recommend it, basically a ghost story, but much more to it than that

The Salt Path by Raynor Wynn, but not if you get depressed easily. I found it an amazing book.

Another vote for The Salt Path - I got it as an audiobook and loved it.

I loved Three Things About Elsie.

The writer of 'Three things about Elsie' has a new book out today. I've not started it yet though. Its called 'Breaking and Mending' and is about her career as psychiatrist (I think!)

A retelling of the Iliad from the point of view of the Trojan women captured by the Greeks. A bit of a gory start, but compulsive after that.

Another vote for ^The Silence of the Girls., I couldn’t put it down. Actually anything by Pat Barker.

"The Various Haunts Of Men", by Susan Hill. (The first in her Simon Serrailler series. Simon is a police detective.) Recommended if you like a "detective" series: currently there are ten books in this series. Hill is regarded widely as an excellent writer, both for her stories and the quality of her written English. I think she is gifted in giving "pen portraits" about families, people, and places.

Elinor Olliphant in Completely Fine- Gail Honeyman.It will make you laugh & maybe cry just a little. Best book I have read for ages- DH read it too & loved it. My book club voted it best book of the decade!!
Magpie Murders - Anthony Horowitch is very good too.

Before I go to Sleep by SJ Watson. It’s a psychological thriller. Not normally my kind of book but I really enjoyed it.

I've just finished The Glassblower. I enjoy all of Maeve Binchys books also Alexander McCall Smith. Get better soon.

Just finished Pillars of the Earth - great read (historical fiction).

Easy, but intelligently written reads, look for Claudia Carrol, especially ‘The Women of Primrose Square’. If you fancy a bit of a thriller ‘Sticks and Stones’ by Jo Jakeman.

If you have several days, read The Goldfinch. The film can in no way do it justice.

If you like a good crime novel then The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson is good - I couldn't put it down. Each chapter is from a different point of view but to prevent confusion that person's name is at the head of each.
