Maurice & Me, a little bit of good news!

That is fabulous news for both of you. Maurice will at last be able to go outside once his sutures have been removed. I wonder what is wrong with the little fellow?

The only thing the vet can think of some sort of infection, he's just finished a course of antibiotics, and I think they may be considering another lot.

I have my fingers crossed for Millie on Wednesday morning. She's as bright as a button now the antibiotics have kicked in and I'm praying the blasted lump will have disappeared.

So Maurice and Millie both have vet appointments on Wednesday, I'll bet Millie is better behaved! Fingers crossed for her here too!

My little madam of a Bengal, Saffron, returned on Saturday night after a 15 day absence! I have been so worried, but didn't want to tempt fate by mentioning it on GN. She is not thin and still has a glossy coat. She is known to visit the next village, 2 miles away across fields, but this was certainly her longest holiday yet. I had walked the streets with my Loc8tor to no avail, but found the battery was flat on her tag when she returned - sod's law!

Glad she's home safely, the little baggage!

shysal do you think that Saffron has a "holiday" home in the next village which she visits? It would appear that she has been well looked after and I assume has not lost any weight. The little beggars know how to pull at our heart strings.

Yes, Charleygirl, I feel sure he has a second family. In the past I attached a message to her collar, which also carries a disc with phone number and a Loc8tor tag (range 300 yds), asking 'Where does this cat go? Please phone', but have never had a response. A few years ago she was found unconscious by the roadside in that village. The vet thought she could have been kicked rather than hit by a car, not a nice thought.
Any way, she is being very 'Mummyish', obviously pleased to be back, and has hardly left my side since her return. I have not had the heart to remove her from under my bedclothes at night. I am not used to a warm body snuggled up next to me - too hot!

fat chance anno I'm sure all the staff at the vet think he's the cat from hell, not vicious, just bloody awkward!

If only they could see how accommodating he is at home. If I say, "Maurice, I think it's time for a brushy brushy" (yes, I know )He wanders over and sits next to the cupboard where the brush is kept. He then is quite happy to be given a thorough grooming, and responds when I say "Tummy Maurice" by rolling over so that I can brush his undercarriage.

He takes his tablets with no fuss, and (usually) responds to my request of "settle down Maurice!" when he wants to join me at the desk when I'm trying to do anything on the computer. This command is usually issued after the second time that he has either A) Walked between me and the monitor or B) Sat on the keyboard and either deleted what I have just written or added a load of gobbledygook to it. He also has a bit of a "Gransnet" speciality, which consists or rapid scrolling via his derriere, or an uncanny ability to alter the font size

In short, he is a model of manners and good behaviour, until you try to pick him up or hold him. He gets on lap, happy chap, I put him on lap, grows several extra limbs which can move in all directions at once at an incredible speed.

I think tomorrow could be erm, "challenging"?

We used to have a cat like that - it got to the stage where we had to change vets as he got really s-----ty with me suggesting that the cats behaviour was my fault.

Isn't it just the best news when you have the "all clear" over something? I can remember waking up every morning and instead of my heart sinking I found myself grinning

Shysal our little tabby cat was a stay at home miss but used to take herself off on holiday once or twice a year. No more than a week thank goodness, and always when the weather was good and there was a full moon. I think she just went on safari and lived off the land. Unfortunately she picked up something nasty from a marauding stray tom cat and died young. Still miss her.
