Using online tools for family trees.

Have just this very week started with ancestry.com. Already I think I need to split my tree into four and can’t work out how to do this. Must happen all the time, surely there’s a way??

Ancestry is no good for Scottish records .

Try www.familysearch.org it's free and has worldwide records, but make sure you put in the country e.g. England, that you are searching in, otherwise you will be inundated.

Yes you can, but the easiest way would be for you both to use the same sign in and password.

mcem try searching for them on FreeBMD or FreeReg. Both are free to use. Or you could look at the county OPC (online parish clerk) records, e.g. Somerset OPC

There were Jalima, but a lot of work has been done gathering info from Church registers which is some help,

I've had problems finding Irish ancestors ,anyone have a site thats easy to navigate and has good info for all Ireland before 1900 ?

Nandalot more difficult is a child hadn’t been baptised, if a couple married in a registry office. Find My Past have info of Church registers .

Mcem Findmypast have the indexes (indices?) which show whish quarter of which year the event occurred but to get the exact date and other details you need the reference number for the record ( shown opposite the name in the index) so as to order a certificate.

Also, I don't think Findmypast has the Scottish indexes. Those can be seen at Scotland's People.

I am currently on a 2week free trial with FindMyPast. Does anyone have experience of this site?
Put in lots of accurate information about my grandparents but when I tried to find precise date of their wedding I was told no info was available. Likewise my mother's birth record.
Does the free trial apply only to recording info I have already and would I be able to access more details by paying the subscription?
Will contact them once DGCs have departed. Just wondered if anyone might advise.

I am with Ancestry and have seven trees , it would have to be one member but you can invite a guest so both of you could add info to it.
