Are they gladioli?

Could be iris, but mine are just flowering now - if you transplant them and they are gladioli they should flower a bit later.

Crocosmia?

No not gladis I ve got some of them already in and they are a bulb theses are more of a tuber but thanks for trying again Cavesoman again crocosmia are a round bulb these have an oblong tuber perhaps I can get a better pic of the actual root I ll try

Montbretia? Although they're a type of crocosmia, I think. But I'm sure our montbretia have more of a tuber.... Otherwise, yes, iris is a good bet.

I thought montbretia Septimia but I have a lot of them and they don’t look the same tuber at all

My first thought was iris.

That last photo looks more like an iris type bottom to me.

My husband says it's a rhizome of some sort, possibly iris, but...

Google assistant offers lemongrass.

My wonderful partner has recently planted a variety of Lily that has a rhizome and says that it's possibly a Lily. When I saw the leaves I was thinking it could be.

If you're lucky you may get some flowers this year - if you're quick!
