Yes. What is it with men and digging? It's taken me years to convince DH that No Dig is the best way. He never even did the bloomin' digging.

I leave the potatoes to him though. He's never happier than when he's staggering along behind the rotovator.

I did suggest to DH that he could just spread the manure/compost on the vegetable garden and let the worms do the rest but he insisted on digging.

However, then one of his friends told him the same thing and he thinks it's a good idea now

I presume that leaving it fallow this year is part of permaculture! Or not?

When I first joined Gransnet in 2012, there was an Australian member called Joan who posted regular updates about her permaculture garden she had created in what I presume was a normal sized backyard.

They were interesting and informative posts, full of ideas for growing in a small space and making use of available resources. Does anyone know why she left?

I've often wondered what happened to her. I hope she is well.

No dig gardening certainly appeals as you get older as does leaving all weeding, clippings etc. where they grew.
Companion planting works well.
