Hot weather food

I haven’t cooked a proper meal since the heat waves began. I don’t want to use the cooker or eat anything cooked. I shan’t get scurvy because I eat salad and fruit every day but I end up with strange meals. Tonight’s dinner will be potato waffles, toasted and cold baked beans.
All I really want is ice cream.

After a shock at the doctors the other day I had to put my foot down on having ice cream, cereal, etc for evening meals.
I am now having to use up bits we have obviously and me and my partner usually have different meals ( i am vegan he isn't) I do hate salads but am going to do what I can to cut back as I really have to lose a lot of weight

It’s been non stop tennis viewing here as it is every year so I don’t cook when the tennis is on anyway. I buy in salad stuff and top it up with assorted excellent cooked chicken salmon or crab. But yesterday there was no tennis! Back to a pasta dish but oh it was far far too hot to eat it all so I am back on salads with some nice quiches. Cooking will come very hard when this weather is over. It will be over won’t it?

I often crave a hot meal even during a heatwave.
On those occasions I take my airfrier outside to cook with.

I can easily make myself a whole meal in the airfrier - veg, potatoes and meat or fish - but as there are two of us, I often have to use the microwave for part of the meal too. Obviously I can't take that outside, but it warms or cooks things so quickly that it doesn't seem to make the kitchen any hotter.

I certainly couldn't bring myself to light the oven during the heatwave, not that I use it very often nowadays anyway.

Peaches/nectarines in greek yoghourt has been my "i cannot be bothered" go-to

Muesli has been my lunchtime staple - a tiny bit of granola when I have any in, but mainly plain oats, seeds and nuts. I put a bit of milk on those, then chop up a nectarine on top if I have some, and/or plums, then topped with a dollop of yoghurt.

My craving for hot food doesn't start until teatime. smile
