To be fair, it is just a wee bit warmer (or less cold!) today , but I’m still going to make a substantial Mulligatawny soup tonight, with some bits of chicken out of the freezer, carrots, celery, rice and apple. Might buy a baguette to accompany it, since I’ll be doing some shopping anyway after swimming.

I plan my meals at the weekend for the following week and shop for them on the Monday or Tuesday. So last week I had planned for salads and of course, had to make them because the salad ingredients won't keep, even though the rain was hammering on the roof and the wind was causing chaos in the garden.

My problem as well. Just do the planning on Tuesday and shop Wednesday/Thursday.

My local weather forecast (Met Office) says today will be warmish (21) but temperatures over 25 for the rest of the week. The only thing is it has been promising a heatwave tomorrow for the last 3 weeks and tomorrow never comes.

The heating came on this morning.

We've been having mince and potatoes, curries, and fish with avocado, rice and egg - a bit of a mix and unusual for summer here in Scotland (for us). Tempted to have steak pie the other day but managed to resist. Yesterday I made lentil soup which always is good for satisfaction on a cold day. We had 6 degrees 2 days ago. Yesterday it was 16 but not sunny. What the hell!
