Of course it's not called that really but I can't for the life of me remember its real name. This is what I mean:
Cook apples and place in dish, then make cake mixture: butter, sugar SR Flour and egg, pour it over and bake. This is a dessert eaten with custard, not a cake.
I was told this is Apple Charlotte but isn't that made with buttered bread in a mould?
Nor is it Apple Cake because this, to me at any rate, is vanilla-almond cake mixture, 1/2 of it placed in the bottom of a cake pan, covered in very thinly sliced apples, the fruit then covered with more cake mix and baked. This is an actual cake.
But what's the other, just apples covered-with-cake-mix thing called?
I shan't sleep until I know its name
