Well mine was two slices of granary bread with a banana and a large glass of water. Probably about 35p .

Mine was 2 boiled eggs with 3 rosemary crackers and cheese. Plus a pear. The

I had an M&S duck hoisin sauce wrap, 2 plums and a handful of cashew nuts. (Also 2 KitKats but I won't mention them )
It was a more substantial lunch than usual for some reason today.

Mine was spiced parsnip soup with kale crisps.
I made a pot of it earlier this week and the total cost is unlikely to have been more than £3 - did enough for 6.

Salad from staff restaurant in work £2.15 plus a banana from home 15p Total £2.30.

Marinated, skinned chicken thighs( soya sauce, chilli sauce, tomato sauce, hint of garlic purée, salt)shallow fried in rapeseed oil, 15 mins, each side . Served with green salad and boiled baby potatos.
A yummy Indian ladoo for afters
Cost? About £1.50?

Oddly enough GabbyG that was my thought too when I read the OP. Why did anyone bother to post. It’s like people taking photos of their meals and posting them on FB.

I was just wondering how much I spend on food per day...on average.
I don't usually cost my food but I spent £72 in Marks and Waitrose yesterday and wondered how many meals the shop contained. ? It was mostly fruit, salads, veg and dairy with some cod. The walnuts, almonds and Medjool dates were £8.90 and won't last a week but they're (supposedly) good for you.

I had an omelette (no bread with it). How much do two eggs cost? and a sprinkle of grated cheese?
Then visited friend who had made scones, served with home-made jam . Free.

Medjool dates would not last me a week.

That was cheaper than mine. I love omelettes but have given up sweet stuff as I'm doing a marathon (all being well) in October.
Warm scones with home made jam...tempting.

I had 4 chicken nibbles, a large slice of pineapple and a scone with jam and cream. Boiling water to sip at.

Free as my elders' group lunch was provided.

There were also club sandwiches, fruit cake, a mixed fruit platter, tiny savouries, little miniatures = steak or chicken pies, boiled eggs and sponge cake with fresh cream and passionfruit topping. But I didn't want any of that.

Asda had carrots and parsnips at 22p per bag so I got 3 bags, to make soup. Added 2 onions, 3 chicken stock cubes, some garlic. Most expensive ingredients were the stock cubes. Totalled less than £3 for 10 portions. Had one one portion for lunch and 9 individual portions are in the freezer using saved Chinese takeaway containers.

I had a crisp sandwich and a cup of tea.

Wow! That's cheap but there is no Asda near me and, as my daughter is visiting from York and we're going to the coast today, it'll have to be Saturday before I find the nearest store. Never having been to an Asda I'll prob find lots more to like
Did you blitz your soup in a liquidiser after cooking or have it a bit chunky?

Coolgran your soup sounds a lot like mine! The friends I first made the soup for are vegetarians so I used Marigold bouillon as my stock . My ingredients also included a bag of Pentland Brig kale, and I added the stalks to the root veg which I had roasted in the oven with a drizzle of maple syrup before cooking in the stock. I then whizzed the whole lot with a stick blender, letting it down with a very little lemon juice.
As a garnish I tossed some of the leaves in a little olive oil and lemon juice and toasted them gently in the oven (160)
A swirl of non dairy (or regular) yogurt finished it off.
I fed 6 hungry book club friends plus a helping left over for me!
